Job Description
  • -Monitor and ensure the New York Branch's compliance with all applicable federal and state banking
  • laws, regulations and guidance. Direct and implement effective strategy and policies for managing
  • compliance and regulatory risk.
  • -Lead, manage and motivate the Compliance team ensuring timely conformity to all Bank processes for
  • performance management and personal development.
  • -Review new products, activities, businesses, governance and services to ensure consistency with law,
  • regulatory requirements and Bank procedures, and (following consultation with the business)
  • securing external professional and other advice where necessary.
  • -Provide guidance to bank management on matters of compliance and regulation. Manage
  • implementation and maintenance of all relevant Compliance policies including the development and
  • introduction of appropriate quality control procedures.
  • -Act as BSAO and BSA/AML representative for the Shinhan Bank New York Branch. Review and
  • update the Branch's BSA/AML/OFAC program, which includes an annual risk assessment, policies,
  • procedures and practices to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • -Create and develop action plans for Compliance to deliver ensuring such strategies work across
  • functional boundaries, and create and deliver a robust Compliance monitoring plan for the New York
  • Branch.
  • -Manage the submission of reports to the General Manager of the New York Branch and Head Office
  • on information gathered and analyzed in order to make recommendations for improvements to the
  • management and control of regulatory and compliance risks.
  • -Manage all regulatory examination processes as they apply to Shinhan New York Branch operations.
  • -Oversee the investigation of suspected legal, regulatory and/or reporting violations.
  • -Prepare/submit regular compliance reports to Head Office counterparts detailing compliance
  • monitoring activities and suspicious activity reviews.
  • -Oversee the dissemination of compliance-related information to bank employees to ensure familiarity
  • with compliance requirements
  • -Perform second level OFAC release from SafeWatch system verify queue, when required
  • -Responsible for reviewing and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports
  • -Coordinating interactions with regulators, including but not limited to:
  • a. Assisting in providing oversight for supervisory examinations and being a central contact for
  • regulators;
  • b. Coordinating and managing events related to examinations and continuous monitoring, including
  • working with businesses and functions in negotiating scope and timing of reviews, monitoring
  • requested data aggregation and coordinating and attending regulatory meetings with control
  • functions and business unit personnel;
  • c. Collaborating with department heads to provide guidance on regulatory matters and continually
  • enhancing the framework to identify, assess, control, and monitor regulatory communication.
