Job description

Greenlight Networks is looking for a GIS & Compliance Specialist I to join our Fiber Design and Engineering Planning Services Department. The GIS & Compliance Specialist I works in tandem with Outside Plant Engineers, Field Engineers, and Construction Coordinators to ensure timely delivery of fiber deployments. The position creates permits, splice packages and construction drafts as required by the Engineer’s design. Interacting with records systems the GIS & Compliance Specialist I update, reports on, and enters information pertinent to regulatory compliance and fiber assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and design splice packages using our fiber management system.
  • Troubleshoot fiber and network availability to ensure high quality record keeping and optimize future network expansion.
  • Provide ad-hoc insight into the status of Greenlight’s fiber plant in support of service delivery, network outage resolution, and network expansion.
  • Create construction prints, right-of-way permit maps, and field survey maps per request by Outside Plant Engineers, Field Engineers, and Construction Coordinators.
  • Acquire right-of-way permits to support new construction.
  • Assure compliance with required maintenance permits, bonds, etc.
  • Create maps and provide GIS services as required by the business.
  • Validate entry of GIS data by other users and correct as needed.
  • Submit UDigNY/ dig safe design tickets and digitize results to be utilized for planning and permitting purposes.
  • Upkeep records for UDigNY / dig safe to ensure we are marked on future surveying call outs, ensuring the stability of the network.
  • Update fiber records to match as-builts.
  • Regularly review contractor submitted splicing as-builts.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in any of the following: ArcMap/ArcPro, Vetro, QGIS, or similar GIS based software.
  • Must be able to read, create, and interpret technical documents, fiber maps, and as-built drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable in a deadline driven environment.
  • Skilled in multitasking and adept at managing shifting priorities if need be.
  • Comfortable in collaborating with other teams to meet departmental goals.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree or higher in GIS, Geography, Drafting or related program required.
  • 2 years of equivalent work experience in Telecommunications, Fiber Optic Network Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly rate for this position is $24/hr - $32/hr. The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
