We are a family-owned home furnishing business operating multiple Ashley Furniture locations in Central Illinois and the greater Indianapolis area. We are excited to announce our expansion into Bloomington, Indiana in October 2026, and are seeking to fill all retail store positions as soon as possible. Position Overview:

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the store and is responsible for assisting with sales performance, team leadership, customer service, and operational execution. This role helps drive profitability by coaching team members, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and maintaining high standards throughout the showroom. They may also oversee store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving store sales and profitability goals
  • Coach sales associates on selling techniques and product knowledge
  • Monitor sales performance and provide feedback
  • Help close sales and support complex customer transactions
  • Serve as Manager on Duty and key holder
  • Maintain showroom appearance and merchandising standards
  • Support inventory management and operational compliance
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of staff
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Support recruiting and interviewing efforts
  • Support sales teams in delivering exceptional service, promoting customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, financial controls, and operational procedures
  • Support marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Assist with processing sales orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required documentation is complete and proper approvals are obtained before finalizing transactions
  • Process customer credit applications, assist with financing arrangements, and maintain accurate customer account information in retail management systems
  • Follow established cash handling procedures, process payments accurately, and reconcile transactions according to company policies under Office Manager supervision
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating complex issues as appropriate while following up to ensure timely resolution
