Overview

Stewart & Stevenson is Now Hiring a Field Service Power Generation Supervisor at 10750 Telge Road Houston, TX 77095.ย  ย The Field Service Supervisor - Power Generation role works predominantly in the field and is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of field technicians who install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair power generation equipment at customer locations. This position serves as the frontline leader for field operations, ensuring safe execution, quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, technician development, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of generator field service technicians.
  • Monitor technician performance, productivity, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring on complex diagnostic and repair activities.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
  • Manage labor utilization, overtime, and scheduling efficiency.
  • Review service reports, work orders, timecards, and expense submissions for accuracy.
  • Monitor project and service costs to support profitability objectives.
  • Coordinate parts availability and vendor support with internal teams.
  • Assist in forecasting manpower requirements and workload planning.

Field Operations

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise installation, startup, maintenance, and repair activities for power generation equipment.
  • Ensure technicians have proper equipment, tools, parts, and documentation to perform assigned work.
  • Review and prioritize service requests, emergency calls, outages, and project schedules.
  • Monitor work progress to ensure timely completion of service commitments.
  • Support commissioning and operational testing of generators, transfer switches, switchgear, controls, and related systems.
  • Assist field teams with troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all company, customer, OSHA, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and safety assessments, toolbox talks, jobsite safety inspections and field audits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, equipment specifications, and service procedures.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Customer Relations

  • Serve as a primary escalation point for customers regarding service quality and technical concerns.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships through responsive communication and professional service delivery.
  • Conduct customer site visits to assess service requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide recommendations for preventative maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and replacement opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and use good judgment.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and direct complex operations including supervising, motivating and directing personnel.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of LM Tankerman duties/responsibilities and ability to carry them out.
  • Ability to understand and carry out orders given verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to comprehend important information as follows SDS, vessel documentation, terminal documentation, video training used for safety meetings, safety and SOP quizzes.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, i.e. personal computer and tankerman equipment. Must be able to operate and maintain company vehicle.
  • Knowledge and use of computer software: Microsoft office package, e-mail, and Intranet systems.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED and a technical degree, military training, or trade certifications.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of power generation or diesel engine, electrical controls, transfer switches, switchgear and related power generation equipment experience and knowledge preferred. In supporting Industrial, marine, data center, utility, or critical power customers.
  • OEM certifications (Cummins, CAT, Kohler, MTU, Generac, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, OSHA regulations, and applicable electrical codes.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a multi-site or regional service environment preferred.
  • Ability to obtain customer-required site access credentials.
  • Experience managing emergency response or outage service activities.

Physical Activities & Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work around energized equipment when required.
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned service territory.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and emergency call-outs as business needs dictate.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, weekend, after office hours, and holidays. Also, must endure harsh weather, field environments, and work conditions.
