Tell Stories That Matter. Report News That Makes an Impact.
The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) is looking for a Senior News Reporter to join the CBN News team in Virginia Beach. In this role, you'll pursue meaningful stories that inform, inspire, and engage audiences across television, digital, and streaming platforms. From breaking news and geopolitical developments to humanitarian issues, religious freedom, and stories impacting communities around the world, you'll have the opportunity to report on issues that matter while bringing a Christian perspective to the stories you tell. You'll work alongside an experienced newsroom and production team, with opportunities to develop enterprise reporting, conduct in-depth interviews, travel for major stories, mentor developing journalists, and serve as a fill-in anchor. Serving in this position facilitates ministry activities and contributes to CBN's Biblical mission to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 annually. Final compensation within this range will be determined based on a combination of education, relevant experience, and demonstrated skills aligned with the role requirements.
What You'll Do
You'll research, investigate, write, produce, and deliver compelling news stories, features, interviews, and special assignments across television, digital, and streaming platforms. You'll develop original stories, conduct on-location reporting, build relationships with newsmakers and trusted sources, and travel domestically and internationally for breaking news, special events, and developing stories. You'll also collaborate with newsroom and production teams to deliver timely, impactful coverage, mentor developing journalists, and serve as a fill-in anchor for CBN News broadcasts, updates, and The 700 Club as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Extensive knowledge of domestic and international current events, geopolitics, humanitarian issues, and Christian news
  • Thorough understanding of broadcast journalism principles, newsroom operations, editorial standards, and television news production
  • Demonstrated ability to research, investigate, verify, and communicate complex news stories with accuracy, fairness, and clarity
  • Experience producing compelling television news packages, feature stories, documentaries, and special reports
  • Proficiency with professional non-linear editing software, newsroom systems, and digital media technologies
  • Excellent interviewing, storytelling, writing, and on-camera presentation skills
  • Ability to serve effectively as a fill-in television news anchor, demonstrating excellent on-camera presence, clear communication, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly during live broadcasts
  • Strong editorial judgment with a commitment to journalistic integrity and factual accuracy
  • Ability to perform effectively under deadline pressure in live television and breaking news environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across newsroom teams and with external contacts
  • Ability to mentor and encourage developing journalists while contributing positively to a collaborative newsroom environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
