Job description

Opal Foods is currently accepting applications for the position of Processing Lead at our Litchfield MN location. This position is responsible for overseeing the grader machine and the corresponding personnel to ensure a smooth run and reduce downtime while maintaining compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations. Will provide resources needed by team member and help to maintain compliance with company food safety, GMPs, safety policies and governmental regulations. This position will also assist the Complex Manager, Processing Manager, and other Lead with other projects and duties as needed. Must be available to be scheduled for work 7 days a week including holidays.

Position Responsibilities:

•    Determine the most effective run order for the daily run list.

•    Organize and communicate which lanes will be running which egg size, carton, label, and in what order.

•    Prepare and print accurate and correctly formatted labels according to Opal and customer specifications based on the daily run list then place labels on the corresponding packer lane.

•    Ensure all “date/label” printers are on, accurately dated, and correctly adjusted for format and readability based on each specific carton and lane.

•    Ensure all moving parts such as overhead egg belt, lubing belt, nest runs ect. are ready for startup.

•    Ensure lanes and Machine Operators/denesters are properly staffed before startup to ensure egg flow remains consistent to meet the demands of each day’s run list

•    Manage all starts and stops of the Grader Machine including breaktimes, startup and shut down.

•    Communicate changes, updates, and overall guidance to processing teams including, but not limited to, packers, stackers, denesters/machine operator, loaders, transporters, and warehouse ect.

•    Complete daily reports, count inventory and enter data into spreadsheets, and prepare for the next day.

•    Strong knowledge of company policies and government regulations

•    Ensure team members follow food safety, GMP and HACCP programs through spot checks and observation throughout the shift

•    Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the work area

•    Understand and monitor SOPs

•    Help in all areas as needed to complete the day’s run

•    Work closely with quality team to help address deficiencies

•    Other duties as assigned

Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)

•    Must demonstrate attention to details

•    Demonstrates the ability to lead others

•    Must read and write in English

•    Must be able to work at a fast-pace, stand, walk, and complete repetitive tasks.

•    Must be knowledgeable in Opal Foods’ Quality Food Safety Policy, Personal Safety Policy, and Biosecurity Policy.

•    Must be able to communicate effectively with USDA throughout the shift

•    Must be available to be scheduled for work 7 days a week including holidays

•    Must be clocked in on time and ready to work every day scheduled

•    Must be able to stay until eggs have completely run out of houses. Work shifts may vary and extend past normal 8-hour workday or end before 8 hours in a day.
