Position Overview:
The Senior Tax Manager oversees the preparation and technical review of complex tax returns for closely held businesses, primarily passthrough entities and their individual owners. This role includes guiding the tax team, reviewing transaction documents, identifying complex tax issues, managing engagement economics, and providing high-level advisory services. The position plays a key role in team development, client relationship management, and firm-wide business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and sustain strong client relationships within the closely held business and real estate markets.
- Perform technical reviews of complex tax returns for passthrough entities and individual owners.
- Identify complex tax issues and recommend innovative, strategic solutions.
- Review operating agreements, LOIs, purchase agreements, and other legal/tax documents.
- Monitor engagement performance, including billing and collections.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor team members to create future leaders.
- Collaborate across service lines to expand business opportunities and support broader client needs.
- Build a strong professional network with colleagues, referral partners, prospects, and community organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's in Tax preferred.
- 7+ years of recent public accounting experience with closely held or real estate-related tax engagements.
- Significant experience with entity and individual taxation, especially partnerships.
- Proven experience developing staff, managing workflow, and leading teams.
- CPA certification required.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Excellent networking skills and the ability to grow client relationships.
