Job description

Tax Manager | Advisor | People LeaderFuture Firm Leader

Tyler, Texas

Compensation: $110,000 to $160,000 base salary

There are plenty of firms looking for someone to manage tax returns.

We're looking for someone who wants to help build people, deepen client relationships, and have a seat at the table in shaping the future of a growing CPA firm.

Our client works alongside business owners, entrepreneurs, and privately held companies that expect more than compliance. They want perspective. They want solutions. They want a trusted advisor.

And that's exactly the type of professional we're looking for.

This Role Might Be for You If...

You enjoy solving complex tax issues but also love understanding the story behind the numbers.

You naturally ask questions like:

"Why are we doing it this way?"

"What could we do better?"

"How does this decision impact the client long term?"

You enjoy mentoring staff and helping younger professionals grow.

You want meaningful client relationships rather than simply being the person preparing or reviewing returns.

You believe great client service and great culture can exist together.

And you're energized by being surrounded by people who genuinely enjoy helping one another succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing complex tax engagements for privately held businesses and their owners

• Advising clients on tax planning opportunities and helping them think proactively rather than reactively

• Reviewing and preparing complex individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns

• Building trusted relationships with clients and serving as a strategic resource throughout the year

• Leading, mentoring, and developing team members

• Collaborating with partners and leadership on client strategy and service opportunities

• Helping identify opportunities to deepen relationships and provide additional value to clients

• Staying ahead of changes in tax legislation and translating complexity into practical business advice

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is not measured by charge hours or client billings

It's measured by the trust you build.

The people you develop.

The clients who call you before making important decisions.

The teammates who become better because they worked alongside you.

And your ability to think like an owner while serving others exceptionally well.

What We're Looking For

• CPA or EA required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is a minimum

• Five or more years of current or very recent public accounting experience

• Experience managing complex tax engagements

• Strong technical tax knowledge and research capabilities

• Proven leadership and supervisory experience

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

• A proactive mindset and genuine curiosity about clients and their businesses

• Someone who balances high standards with humility, accountability, and a team-first mentality

Why Consider This Opportunity?

The best public accounting careers are built where competitive compensation, meaningful work, strong relationships, and long-term growth all come together.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to continue developing as a technical professional, become a stronger advisor to clients, and make a meaningful impact on the people around them.

If you're looking for an environment where you can influence outcomes, develop people, and help shape the future of a growing firm, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
