What you'll doAs our Environmental Project Manager, you'll be asked to take on dynamic projects. We'll also count on you to:
  • Plan, design and execute environmental projects, including everything from Phase I and Phase II site assessments to brownfield redevelopment and regulatory compliance and permitting.
  • Develop new clients and maintain clients by establishing a personal working relationship with key decision makers and influencers based on the firm's Core Values.
  • Oversee projects using resources to accurately invoice clients and stay within scope and budget.
  • Maintain project schedule and meet deliverable deadlines for our clients.
  • Prepare client contracts, statements of qualifications and fee proposals.
  • Communicate ideas and concepts to co-workers and with clients on sensitive and complex matters.
  • Act as a client liaison by having a clear understanding of client needs and applying innovative thinking to solve problems and capture opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits and complete fieldwork as needed.
  • Perform quality control for projects and clients.
  • Develop and maintain a high-level understanding of environmental markets, clients, and technology trends and advancements.
  • Attend meetings, and community and industry events.
  • Follow and research industry trends and share that information with the team.
  • Supervise direct reports.

What it takesIdeally, you'll have a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Ecology or Physical Science with an emphasis in environmental engineering or a related degree. We would like to talk with you if you have seven or more years of environmental or project management experience, preferably at a professional consulting firm. Ideally, you'll also:
  • Have a proven track record of managing multiple clients and projects at once.
  • Have knowledge of state regulatory agency guidance including but not limited to Illinois Leaking Underground Storage Tank (including reimbursement) and Site Remediation Programs.
  • Have strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Hold Project Management certification.
  • Hold a Professional Geologist License in the state of IL.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter able to effectively communicate with all levels of clients and coworkers.
  • Drive for results within a solutions mindset.
  • Have excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software and tools.
  • Travel to client sites and firm locations.
