Job description

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Planning and Scheduling Manager that will be responsible for performing complex planning and scheduling assignments on highly complex or multiple projects, providing leadership and coordination of team members and processes, and overseeing project planning and scheduling strategies at both project and group levels. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide oversight of planning and scheduling activities on all projects within an operating group 

  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct planning and scheduling activities 

  • Ensure corporate planning and schedule standards are implemented and all project-related activities comply 

  • Review major mitigation efforts for conformance to company standards 

  • Provide oversight and supervision of scheduling team, including coaching, mentoring, training, and performance evaluations 

  • Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed 

  • Develop leadership potential through task assignments and career growth opportunities 

  • Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance 

  • Collaborate with Business Development on proposals, leading project pursuit strategy regarding schedule and risk identification and mitigation 

  • Support roll-out of all company-wide training plans 

  • Coordinate and lead corporate planning and scheduling improvement initiatives and best practice sharing 

  • Responsible for budget and scheduling resource management at the operating group level 

  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field 

  • Minimum twelve years of construction experience; experience as a project manager or superintendent is desirable 

  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling concepts, construction practices, project sequencing, and 4D visual planning methodologies 

  • Strong plan and specification reading, review, and interpretation skills; ability to identify concerns in document reviews 

  • Knowledge of project management, contracting methods, buyout, and contracts 

  • Ability to exercise creativity and mature judgment in solving unprecedented problems on complex projects 

  • Strong organization, delegation, and leadership skills; ability to manage multiple project teams 

  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer experience and superior service rankings 

  • Basic understanding of project estimates for schedule development, cost loading, and resource loading 

  • Ability to interpret and implement customer scheduling specifications and contract requirements 

  • Ability to quickly understand complex projects at the proposal stage and develop strong project schedule strategies 

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative, team-based environment 

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, oral and written communication, and public speaking skills 

  • Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback

The base pay range for this role is $140,000 - $210,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
