Job description

Position Summary
The Director of Quality is a strategic, forward-thinking leader responsible for shaping and executing the organization's long-term quality vision. This role oversees all quality functions across the business and drives a proactive, prevention-focused culture rooted in "quality at the source." The Director will develop and evolve the Quality Management System, implement best-practice processes, and lead enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance product quality, reduce cost of quality, and strengthen operational performance. With a strong ability to anticipate future challenges and identify opportunities, this leader partners closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to implement sustainable improvements, champion cross-functional collaboration, and ensure full compliance with industry standards. The Director of Quality also plays a critical role in mentoring teams, building organizational capability, and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Create and implement a best-practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures that strengthen business performance and support a forward-looking, long-term quality roadmap.
  • Lead and manage the quality function from new product conception through warranty analysis, ensuring a proactive culture rooted in quality at the source so that issues are prevented rather than detected downstream.
  • Establish and continuously improve a Supplier Quality function aimed at installing quality at the source, improving supplier quality to achieve <500 PPM for all suppliers, with COPQ <1.0% and improving, significantly reducing the need for receiving inspection.
  • Evaluate challenges facing the business, anticipate future risks, and take strategic action to mitigate them while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities across the business, ensuring problems are prevented at the source and customer requirements are consistently met.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and operations to prevent non-conformances, customer complaints, concessions, and rework by driving corrective and preventive actions that reinforce quality at the source.
  • Report on Quality activities regularly to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators
  • Lead and evolve the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive enterprise-wide improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM practices-reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and enhancing product quality.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration to solve complex challenges and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Develop and track KPIs that measure quality performance and operational success.
  • Mentor and empower teams, building internal capability through training and coaching in quality and continuous improvement tools.
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to proactively address quality issues and implement preventive strategies.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation throughout the organization.

Education and Experience:
  • BS in engineering or related industrial, scientific, or business fields required
  • 10+ years of related experience required with at least three years as a quality manager or similar role highly preferred
  • ASQ quality certification preferred
  • Green or black belt certification preferred
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Strategic Planning, Organizing, and Project Management skills
  • Proven success leading large-scale quality and CI initiatives
  • Deep understanding of ISO standards and regulatory compliance in manufacturing environments
  • Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills
