Job description

Description
Build the finance organization that powers the next chapter of growth.
For more than 50 years, we've built a reputation for innovation in the electronic security industry. As a privately held company headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, we've remained founder-led, customer-focused, and committed to developing technology that competes with some of the largest companies in the world.
Today, we're entering an exciting new phase of growth driven by continued product innovation. To support that growth, we're looking for an exceptional Controller who is excited by the opportunity to build, improve and scale an accounting organization-not simply maintain one.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll be a key leader in transforming our finance function through automation, process improvement and talent development. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, developing people and building systems that allow a business to grow rapidly without sacrificing accuracy or control.
What You'll Do
As Controller, you'll lead the day-to-day accounting operations while helping shape the future of our finance organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and develop the Accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Senior Accounting staff.
  • Build a scalable accounting organization capable of supporting significant long-term growth.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while continuously improving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner closely with the CFO on strategic finance initiatives and organizational planning.
  • Drive automation and process improvements across the accounting function.
  • Establish and improve internal controls, policies, and documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support both our manufacturing operations and recurring SaaS business model with accurate financial reporting and operational insights.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and financial statement audits in partnership with internal departments and external vendors, ensuring disciplined planning, timely execution and high-quality financial reporting.
  • Adhere to DMP's Classification Standard.

Who You Are
You're more than an accountant-you are a builder.
You enjoy improving processes, developing people, and creating systems that help organizations scale. You're comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution and know when each is required.
You thrive in environments where change is constant, opportunities are abundant, and success depends on collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or CMA certificate is a plus but not required if experienced in field.
  • Knowledge of: All standard accounting operating procedures and principles
    • Treasury management
    • Cash receipt and disbursement process and controls
    • Federal and state income, sales and payroll tax laws
  • 5 years' experience in public accounting or as Accounting Manager or Controller.
  • Progressive accounting leadership experience, including managing accounting teams.
  • Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience in manufacturing, technology, SaaS, or other complex business environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success implementing process improvements or finance automation.
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data and accuracy in working with large amounts of data.

Why This Role Is Different
This isn't a role where you'll inherit a mature organization and simply maintain it.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Partner directly with an experienced CFO.
  • Help shape the future structure of the finance organization.
  • Lead automation initiatives that modernize accounting processes.
  • Develop and mentor an expanding accounting team.
  • Make a measurable impact on a company with a 50-year history of innovation and an ambitious vision for the future.

If you're energized by building scalable organizations, leading talented people, and helping an innovative company reach its next stage of growth, we'd love to meet you.
