Job description

Job Summary
Continental's Corporate Completions Team seeks an experienced completions engineering subject matter expert to support multiple departments to direct and monitor progress of well performance enhancement and cost effectiveness. The Advisor role provides high level guidance to all relevant departments and executives on matters within well completions. This position also requires individual contributions in stimulation/completion design and evaluation while serving as mentor and trainer to less senior employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject-matter mentor, guiding technical staff through complex concepts and best practices
  • Design and evaluate completion/stimulation tests for well performance and cost impact.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate materials for stimulation.
  • Develop sub-surface interpretation of well spacing and stimulated reservoir volume relationships.
  • Project design, management and interpretation of advanced sub-surface diagnostics (micro-seismic, fiber optic, tracer, downhole imaging, etc.).
  • Interpretation of routinely acquired and specialized completion data for accurate hydraulic fracture characterization.
  • Construct, calibrate and interpret hydraulic fracture simulations.
  • Pressure decline analysis for reservoir properties (DFIT).
  • Vet technology proposals for performance and economic value.
  • Analyze and interpret short and long-term production performance from unconventional reservoirs to aid well completion, workover operations and relate development strategy to well performance.
  • Provide direction and expertise on data collection and laboratory testing activities to meet completion, stimulation and reservoir characterization needs.
  • Interact with Advanced Analytics and Intelligence (AAI) department for data-oriented completions recommendations.
  • Evaluate completions quality of potential acquisitions.
  • Represent Continental Resources at joint interest and technical meetings.
  • Reach solid conclusions and recommend projects consistent with best engineering practices and company strategy. Communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Develop processes and workflows for duties required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of recent, relevant industry experience.
  • Advanced well stimulation experience
  • Ability to travel to field locations as needed.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Skilled in relevant industry software.
  • Unconventional experience required in multiple basins, hydrocarbon phase and lithologies.
  • Operations experience preferred.
  • Experience in Whitson+, GOHFER, and S&P Harmony software.
  • Experience with design, execution, and interpretation of well tests including Interference Tests (CPG) and Diagnostic Fracture Injection Tests (DFIT).
  • Experience instructing technical staff on subject of hydraulic fracturing.
  • Ability to recognize and understand their influence on performance.
  • Broad knowledge of field operations and understanding of horizontal multistage fracturing in unconventional reservoirs.
  • Basic well log interpretation.
  • Broad knowledge of petrophysics, geology and geophysics.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
