Competitive Intelligence Senior Manager
Reports to: VP, Competitive Intelligence
Location: Hybrid - Boston, MA
Position Overview
We are seeking a Competitive Intelligence Senior Manager. This is a leadership role responsible for operationalizing and scaling competitive intelligence across product lines and go-to-market motions. Reporting to the VP of Competitive Intelligence, this role leads a team of competitive intelligence analysts and serves as a trusted day-to-day partner to senior stakeholders in Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Strategy.
The Manager ensures that competitive intelligence is consistently executed, embedded, and actionable across the organization. This role bridges strategy and execution - translating enterprise CI priorities into high-quality insights, enablement, and influence at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Competitive Intelligence Execution & Program Leadership
  • Lead execution of the competitive intelligence roadmap defined by the VP of Competitive Intelligence.
  • Translate high-level CI strategy into prioritized workstreams, deliverables, and analyst focus areas
  • Ensure competitive intelligence is delivered with consistency, rigor, and relevance across products, industries, and regions.
  • Drive adoption of CI best practices, frameworks, and standards across the organization.

People Leadership & Team Management
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of competitive intelligence analysts and senior analysts.
  • Set clear goals, expectations, and performance standards aligned to business priorities.
  • Coach analysts on stakeholder engagement, executive-ready storytelling, and strategic thinking.
  • Serve as a quality bar for CI outputs, ensuring insights meet senior-leader expectations.

Stakeholder Partnership & Influence
  • Act as the primary CI partner for designated senior stakeholders in Product Management, Product Marketing, Sales, and GTM leadership.
  • Proactively surface competitive risks, opportunities, and implications relevant to stakeholder priorities.
  • Deliver concise, decision-oriented briefings and recommendations tailored to each audience.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Competitive Intelligence on executive-level messaging and escalations.

Product & Go-to-Market Enablement
  • Work with product leaders to ensure competitive insights inform roadmap prioritization, differentiation strategy, and investment decisions.
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of competitive enablement assets, including:
    • Battlecards and objection-handling guidance
    • Win/loss frameworks and insights
    • Executive positioning and differentiation narratives
  • Ensure feedback from sales, solutions consulting, and customer engagements is systematically captured and reflected in CI outputs.

Competitive & Market Analysis
  • Lead deep-dive competitive analyses of priority competitors, including:
    • Product strategy and differentiation
    • Pricing, packaging, and GTM motion
    • Industry positioning and messaging
  • Monitor emerging competitors, adjacent markets, and disruptive trends relevant to PTC's portfolio.
  • Synthesize complex data into clear implications and recommended actions, not static reports.

CI Operations, Tools & Knowledge Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of the CI function, including workflows, intake processes, and prioritization.
  • Ensure competitive intelligence assets are current, discoverable, and trusted across the organization.
  • Partner with the VP of Competitive Intelligence on CI tooling, AI enablement, and process improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how competitive insights are collected, analyzed, and disseminated.

Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of experience in competitive intelligence or related fields such as product marketing, technical sales, or product management.
  • Proven track record of delivering strategic insights that influence business outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Expertise in market research methodologies and competitive landscape analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for synthesizing data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience using AI tools and platforms. Experience with competitive intelligence platforms such as Crayon is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational abilities and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirements.

Preferred Traits
  • Experience scaling a competitive intelligence or market intelligence function.
  • Background in enterprise software, industrial technology, or engineering-led products.
  • Experience supporting global sales and product organizations.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) matching and retirement planning options.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation days and national holidays.
  • Access to professional development programs and learning resources.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
