Job description

Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Location: Austin, TX

Compensation: $170K+ Base + Bonus + Benefits


Overview

A reputable commercial general contractor is actively seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a growing pipeline of work in the Austin market. This individual will oversee the full lifecycle of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through closeout, while playing a key role in client management and project execution.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of corporate interiors, healthcare, industrial, and retail projects, with strong visibility into leadership and long-term growth potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through completion
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost controls
  • Oversee subcontractor buyout, scope review, and contract execution
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents to align field and office operations
  • Lead client meetings and maintain strong client relationships
  • Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Track project progress and proactively mitigate risks
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

Project Experience (Required)

Candidates must have experience managing commercial construction projects $10M+ in value, including a combination of:

  • Corporate Office / Tenant Improvement (TI) Projects
  • Healthcare (clinics, MOBs, renovations in active environments)
  • Industrial / Manufacturing (tilt-wall, warehouse, distribution)
  • Retail and Commercial Build-Outs
  • Ground-Up Commercial Projects ($10M–$50M+)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction
  • Proven track record managing projects $10M+ in value
  • Strong background in both interior build-outs and ground-up construction
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor management
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
