What are Compensation Project Managers?

Compensation Project Managers are professionals who oversee and manage compensation-related projects within an organization. Their responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating compensation programs and initiatives such as salary structures, incentive plans, and pay equity analyses. They collaborate with HR teams, business leaders, and external consultants to ensure that compensation strategies align with organizational goals and comply with legal requirements. Effective Compensation Project Managers possess strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Job description

Project Manager / Senior Project Manager
Civil Engineering | Land Development | Chandler, Arizona
Do the Work You're Proud Of. Grow Into the Leader You Want to Be.
CAGE is hiring a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our Chandler office and become a core part of our growing Arizona land development practice.
This is a seat for someone who is serious about their craft. You know how to run projects, you take budget and schedule personally, and you're starting to think about what the next chapter of your career looks like. Whether that means growing into a principal role, building client relationships, or developing your own team, this is a place where that trajectory is real, not a recruiting pitch.
We are actively building our Phoenix metro presence, and we want a PM who wants to grow with us. Phoenix is booming, our pipeline is strong, and this role will put you at the center of some of the most active land development work in the country.
About CAGE
CAGE is a civil engineering, surveying, and construction management firm serving private and public sector clients across the Southwest and beyond, with offices in Illinois, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina.
We specialize in land development consulting and partner with developers, architects, contractors, municipalities, school districts, and institutional clients to bring projects from concept through construction.
Our culture combines the capabilities of a multi-office firm with the energy of a growing organization. PMs here are not order-takers. You will own your projects, have direct access to senior leadership, and be trusted to make decisions. If you want to be a part of building something, this is the right environment.
What You'll Do
Own Your Projects
  • Manage civil engineering and land development projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and public sector markets
  • Lead projects from entitlement and preliminary design through permitting and construction
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, and profitability
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants to deliver on time and on budget
  • Proactively identify risks and bring solutions, not just problems
Serve Clients Well
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for project clients including developers, architects, contractors, and municipalities
  • Communicate proactively and build trust through consistent follow-through
  • Begin developing your own client relationships and participating in business development activities
  • Represent CAGE professionally within the Phoenix metro development community
Lead a Team
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Lead proposal preparation and project pursuits
  • Collaborate with office leadership on workload planning and resource allocation
  • Help shape the culture of a growing office

What We're Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of civil engineering and land development with proven experience as a Project Manager
  • Strong technical background in site development, grading, drainage, utility design, and permitting
  • Experience managing project budgets and schedules with financial accountability
  • Familiarity with Phoenix metro municipalities, permitting processes, and development standards is a strong plus
  • Clear and confident communicator with clients and project teams
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit
Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience for Senior PM consideration
  • Existing relationships within the Phoenix metropolitan development community
  • Experience with private land development clients including residential builders, master plan developers, or commercial developers
  • Interest in growing into client leadership and business development responsibilities over time

Why CAGE
We are not a firm where PMs disappear into a back office and execute tasks. At CAGE, project managers are the engine of the business. You will have ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to grow.
We are growing our Chandler office intentionally, with senior leadership invested in building the right team from the ground up. That means you will have real influence over how things get done, access to mentorship from experienced principals, and a clear path forward if you want one.
Phoenix is one of the most active land development markets in the country, and we are positioned to grow with it. If you want to do meaningful work in a market that matters, with a team that will invest in you, this is the opportunity.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
  • Competitive base salary: $90,000 to $160,000+ depending on role and experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Clear path toward senior and principal-level advancement
Health & Wellness
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • HSA options
  • Wellness reimbursement programs
  • Mental health support resources
Time Off & Flexibility
  • Flex Time Off
  • Paid parental leave
  • 30-day sabbatical after 5 years
  • Paid holidays and floating holiday
Financial Security
  • 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting
  • Life and disability insurance
Professional Development
  • PE exam support and licensing reimbursement
  • Leadership development programs
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Industry conferences and continuing education

Location
Chandler, Arizona. Serving clients across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Avondale, Buckeye, and the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, one of the fastest-growing land development markets in the United States.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
If you are a civil engineer who takes project ownership seriously and wants to grow in one of the most active land development markets in the country, we want to hear from you.
Apply today and join a team that is building something worth being part of.
We are an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
