Compensation Ote information

What is a compensation OTE?

Compensation OTE stands for 'On-Target Earnings,' which refers to the total expected pay for a job if all performance targets are met. Compensation OTE roles are positions—often in sales or business development—where a significant portion of income is based on commissions or performance bonuses, in addition to a base salary. OTE gives candidates an idea of what they can realistically earn if they achieve their goals, helping both employers and employees set clear expectations around pay.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a compensation analyst?

To thrive as a Compensation Analyst, you need a solid understanding of compensation structures, data analysis, and HR practices, often supported by a degree in human resources, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with HRIS systems, Excel, compensation benchmarking tools, and relevant certifications like CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help Compensation Analysts interpret data and advise stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for ensuring competitive, equitable pay practices and supporting an organization's talent and retention strategies.

How does a compensation analyst collaborate with HR and management teams to develop compensation strategies?

Compensation Analysts work closely with HR and management teams to gather data on market trends, employee performance, and organizational goals. They analyze compensation structures, ensure pay equity, and provide recommendations for salary adjustments or incentive programs. Regular collaboration involves participating in meetings to present findings, discussing budget constraints, and aligning compensation practices with the company's overall talent retention and attraction strategies. This teamwork ensures that compensation policies remain competitive and compliant with regulations.

Who we need

Reporting to the Mid-Market Account Management Leader, we are hiring an Account Manager, Client Engagement & Adoption to join our growing Mid-Market team.

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of approximately 150 existing commercial real estate (CRE) client accounts, acting as the primary point of contact for client engagement, adoption, retention, and growth. This is a highly client-facing, sales-adjacent account management role where success is driven by strong relationship management, disciplined execution, and proactive client engagement.

You will work in a two-to-one model with Sales Executives, supporting shared bookings targets while taking primary ownership of gross retention (GRR) outcomes. This role is best suited for someone who is hungry, coachable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where accountability and adaptability are critical.

This is a remote-first role based in the United States (Eastern or Central Time Zone preferred), supporting Northeast U.S. territories. Occasional travel (25% or less) is required for client engagement, meetings, and events.

What's in it for you

High-growth mid-market build-out. You will join a newly established mid-market structure at Altus Group, with the opportunity to help shape how the function scales, operates, and evolves as it grows.

Direct client impact and ownership. You will manage a significant portfolio of existing clients and play a central role in driving adoption, retention, and expansion across Altus solutions. Your work will directly influence client satisfaction, product value realization, and revenue outcomes.

Exposure to a resilient, growth-oriented industry. You will work at the intersection of technology and commercial real estate, supporting sophisticated investors, asset managers, and operators within a stable, globally relevant industry.

Clear and tangible career progression. You will have defined pathways into enterprise account management, sales, or future leadership roles as the mid-market function continues to expand and mature.

As our new Account Manager, Client Engagement & Adoption, you will:

  • Own and manage a portfolio of existing clients. You will manage approximately 150 CRE client accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for engagement, relationship management, and account coordination. These are existing customers only, with no net-new sales responsibility.
  • Drive adoption and client value realization. You will ensure clients are effectively using Altus solutions by leading onboarding support, product education, usage monitoring, and ongoing engagement. Your focus will be helping clients embed Altus tools into their daily workflows.
  • Build strong client relationships and trust. You will develop relationships with asset managers, operators, analysts, and senior stakeholders through regular check-ins, business reviews, and proactive engagement.
  • Support retention and expansion outcomes. You will identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities in partnership with Sales Executives and contribute to shared bookings targets while owning primary accountability for gross retention performance.
  • Act as the escalation and coordination point. You will coordinate with internal teams (Product, Support, Advisory, and Sales) to resolve client issues quickly and ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Leverage data to drive account health. You will use CRM and customer success tools to track engagement, monitor account health, and identify risks or opportunities across your portfolio.
  • Operate in a high-accountability, high-collaboration model. You will work closely with Sales partners in a 2:1 structure, balancing shared commercial goals with individual performance expectations in a team-oriented environment.

You bring:

  • The client-facing experience. You bring 2-5+ years of experience in Account Management, Customer Success, SDR/BDR, or Sales within a SaaS or B2B environment, with a track record of managing client relationships and driving outcomes.
  • The commercial mindset. You understand how to balance client relationship building with retention, expansion, and revenue accountability.
  • The coachability and drive. You have a high level of curiosity, energy, and accountability. You are proactive, receptive to feedback, and effective in environments that are fast-paced, evolving, and performance-driven.
  • The communication and relationship skills. You are comfortable engaging with clients at multiple levels and can build trust quickly through clear, professional, and consistent communication.
  • The adaptability. You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, while maintaining structure, discipline, and execution quality.
  • The systems fluency. Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) is beneficial, particularly in high-volume account environments.
  • CRE or SaaS exposure. Exposure to commercial real estate, financial services, or SaaS environments is an asset but not required. Strong sales or SDR experience is highly valued.
