Companion Helpers are professionals who provide non-medical assistance and companionship to individuals, often seniors or those with disabilities, who need help with daily activities. Their responsibilities may include offering conversation, assisting with light housekeeping, running errands, preparing meals, and providing emotional support. Unlike caregivers who may provide personal or medical care, Companion Helpers focus on enhancing the quality of life through social interaction and basic support in a safe environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a companion helper?

To thrive as a Companion Helper, you need basic caregiving skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, and often CPR/first aid certification. These skills ensure clients' comfort, safety, and emotional well-being, making a significant positive impact on their daily lives.

Job description

Part-Time Lake County Caregiver
We are looking for individuals to help care for local elderly clients, one-on-one, in their homes. Most of our elderly clients need help with day-to-day things like grocery shopping, running errands, housekeeping, laundry, preparing meals, and helping them remain as independent as possible, in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Some clients need a little more intimate help with things such as showering and toileting. Every case is different. Hours and clients will be based on your individual availability, skill & comfortable level.
Do you have some extra free time? Do you want to help give back to others in the community in a meaningful way? If this sounds like you, we want you on our crew!
Job Title: Caregiver, Granny Nanny, Elderly BFF... the titles are endless! ;)
Location: Lake County (Mentor, Willoughby, Kirtland, Painesville, etc.) & Geauga County (Chardon, Chesterland, Newbury, etc.)
Pay: $16.00 per hour to start. $1-$2 pay differential for short shifts (shifts lasting only 2-3 hours in length). Numerous ways to advance & make more $$$!
About Us: We are a locally owned and operated home care agency. We have one owner, one office & the same set of schedulers. With us, you're a valued individual, not just a number. We offer an outstanding compensation package to those individuals who meet our high standards to become a Cherished Companion. Our caregivers are ACTUAL EMPLOYEES of our company and not just contract workers. That means we pay all taxes and our caregivers are guaranteed the protections that go along with being an employee of a company versus being self-employed. We are also the proud winner of the 2023 & 2024 Home Care Pulse awards: Best of Home Care Provider of Choice, Employer of Choice and Leader in Excellence.
How to Apply: Apply online and then check your email. A Skills Survey will be sent to you with a list of true or false questions. Please answer true or false to each question and then hit submit. Once we receive your answers, we will reach out to you by email about the next step in the hiring process.
