Job description

Summary

The Patient Companion/Transporter will support the care of individuals who require full 24-hour observation for their safety. In this role, the caregiver will:

  • Support a work environment that promotes safety for patients, staff, and customers.
  • Report safety concerns or defective equipment.
  • Always maintain awareness of safety. Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to promote safety and prevention of injuries.
  • Maintain continuous observation as needed. Either personally or by safely transferring observation to another team member.
  • Collect and report data about the patient/family as directed by Registered Nurse.
  • Remain alert for, and report changes related to patient safety.
  • Promptly call for assistance as needed. 

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to observe patient visually as well as listening skills. Assist patient in and out of bed when appropriate.
  • Will be oriented to provide basic patient care duties.
  • Excellent communication skills

Required Licensure or Certification

  • Must obtain BLS during orientation
  • Annual N-95 mask fit test
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
