Position Overview

Over the Top Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. This full-time position is entirely remote, allowing you to provide excellent mental health care from the comfort of your own home. In this role, you will play a vital part in our clients' journeys to improved mental well-being by conducting assessments, crafting personalized treatment plans, and leading both individual and group therapy sessions.

Work Environment

This position offers a flexible remote work environment. Your interactions with clients will primarily occur via telehealth, which includes virtual counseling sessions through secure online platforms. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations during initial client consultations to establish baseline data for treatment.
  • Document detailed case histories and treatment progress, adhering to relevant legal and ethical standards in electronic health record systems such as AVATAR.
  • Create tailored intervention and recovery plans based on individual assessments, focusing on the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitate engaging and supportive individual and group therapy sessions that promote emotional resilience and coping strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate clients' progress throughout the treatment process, adjusting plans as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to support comprehensive client care.
  • Provide timely follow-ups with clients in crisis, including communication with hospital staff for clients needing inpatient care.
  • Educate and empower clients and their families, equipping them to manage mental health challenges and support recovery efforts.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a varied client population, including adolescents, adults, and families dealing with a range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction disorders. Your approach will be client-centric, striving to build strong therapeutic relationships through empathy and understanding, tailored to meet the unique backgrounds and needs of each individual.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LCSW in the state of New York.
  • Pass a national counselor examination such as the NCE or NCMHCE.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and healthcare teams.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, showcasing an empathetic and supportive demeanor.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior hands-on experience in a mental health counseling role is highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
