Description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing regulatory testing, injury/illness care, worker's comp, wellness education for employees within the nursing scope of practice, the structure of the Client Standards, policies, procedures, and treatment care guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed, and within the RN scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director.
  • Assist providers on injury & illness management.
  • Assist providers in managing, coordinating, documentation of Workers Comp claims & communicates with Client's WC claims carrier as needed.
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Record (EMR- Cority) and ensures complete & accurate documentation.
  • Performs regulatory testing including but not limited to: Respiratory medical evaluation, spirometry, audiometry, vision tests, urine test, EKG, immunizations, blood draws, stress test, MicroFit, heat stress.
  • Assist with clinical procedures and physical examinations (if applicable) such as Pre-placement, DOT, Respiratory Evaluations, and Fitness for Duty.
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as vital signs, EKG, audiogram, pulmonary function test, vision acuity, and respirator fit testing.
  • Perform laboratory duties such as phlebotomy, urinalysis, cholesterol, and blood glucose testing, and immunization.
  • Perform Non-DOT Urine & Breath Alcohol collection at the Access/FFD center (as needed)
  • Administer first-aid and medical treatment such as suture removal, ear/eye irrigation, apply splint and dressing as directed by nurse, or other advanced providers.
  • Perform First Aid, CPR, AED, and other training as necessary.
  • Provides preventive health education to employees as needed within scope of practice.
  • Maintains clinic utilization reports.
  • Participates in general flow of clinic operations (answers phones, checks email, medical records, scheduling, filing, copying charts, traffic control).
  • Maintains clinic's medical & office supplies in collaboration with ancillary staff.
  • Support & assist the clinic during Pre-outage & Outage events including night shift scheduling needs.
  • Assist with Humboldt Bay security physicals twice a year.
  • Maintains communication with the Clinic Medical Director, Account Manager, Clinic Manager & client as necessary.
  • Ensures that employees have appropriate return-to-work clearances.
  • Coordinates employee exams &medical surveillance Status & results
  • Other duties as assigned or those duties that may be required as management deems necessary.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid California RN license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred.
  • Must hold current BLS certification.
  • 3–5 years RN experience required.
  • 2-3 years' experience in an urgent care, emergency department or occupational health setting preferred.
  • Certification in Occupational Health preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

Physical Demands

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
  • Some bending and stretching could be required.
  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
  • Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Mainly indoor, office environment conditions.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Air quality is good, and temperature is controlled.

This position has an hourly pay range of $50 - $56. Final compensation for this position depends on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
