Description
The Systems and Database Administration Lead is responsible for the administration, performance optimization, configuration management, and security compliance of enterprise server, virtualization, identity, and database platforms supporting mission and business systems
.
Location: Rockville, MD
Salary:  90,000-132,000
Clearance:  Secret or L Clearance
 
Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments, VMware virtual infrastructure, and enterprise database platforms including SQL Server instances, ensuring system availability, performance stability, and configuration consistency aligned with enterprise technical standards and SLA uptime requirements
Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID operations including account provisioning, group policy enforcement, privileged access configuration in coordination with Identity and Access Management requirements, and secure integration with Microsoft 365 services and enterprise applications
Execute database maintenance, backup validation, performance tuning, replication monitoring, and storage allocation management, ensuring alignment with enterprise backup and recovery processes and integration with enterprise backup solutions
Implement server and database patch management cycles in coordination with cybersecurity requirements aligned to applicable security frameworks, ensuring timely remediation of vulnerabilities and documentation of corrective actions within ITSM workflows
Validate logging configurations for servers and databases to ensure integration with enterprise monitoring and SIEM platforms, supporting incident detection and audit traceability
Participate in Change Advisory Board processes to review and approve infrastructure modifications, ensuring testing within development and test environments prior to production release
Conduct root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents, document findings, implement corrective measures, and provide technical briefings to executive leadership when required
Maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, configuration baselines, and recovery procedures to ensure audit readiness and governance compliance
 
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree., 4+ years relevant experience; administer and maintain operating systems, network components, and enterprise IT infrastructure; implement and maintain system structures; monitor system performance; ensure operational standards are met; provide technical support for enterprise systems.
Masters + 2yrs, or Associates +6yrs of relevant exerience may be substituted. 
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration
Experience managing VMware ESXi clusters and virtual machine lifecycle management
Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and performing database performance tuning
Familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID integration
Experience with Commvault backup configuration and restore validation
SECRET or L Clearance
