Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, a Chenega Professional Services' company, is looking for an IT Systems Administrator to provide network infrastructure support services to the Department of the Navy's Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR). The IT Systems Administrator will provide installation, configuration, testing, and technical support services to the Enterprise Architecture Team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily technical support and troubleshooting of problems as required for all network Windows servers, virtual and physical.
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, Windows updates, and research event log warnings and errors.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Windows Server Active Directory infrastructure for OPTEVFOR networks running in a single domain and single forest.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and implement improvements to the VMWare ESXi infrastructure and provide administration support of the virtual servers hosted in the environment.
  • Support of enterprise-wide virtual infrastructure, including security management and vulnerability management, as well as system health monitoring and problem resolution.
  • Review and assess DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for Microsoft Windows Server and VMware ESXi hosts to determine impacts and implement mitigations and/or corrective actions.
  • Complete or update STIG checklists quarterly.
  • Administer, maintain and update the network backup infrastructure utilizing Commvault Backup and Recovery software.
  • Provide problem management and resolution for the backup of network servers using backup software, tape libraries, drives and media, and SAN infrastructure environment.
  • Provide support for backup job failures and user restore needs.
  • Configure and manage SolarWinds Security Event Manager software installed on OPTEVFOR servers.
  • Assist with planning and administering changes to the SolarWinds IT infrastructure management platform including adding/removing infrastructure into the monitoring tool, SolarWinds updates, upgrades, patching and module implementation.
  • Set up custom thresholds and alerts in SolarWinds for each category of object on the network.
  • Provide a weekly status report which contains the progress of work on assigned tasks and future work plans for the upcoming week.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows Servers 2016 or higher.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience with Commvault Backup and Recovery software.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with administering VMware vSphere and vCenter Server 6 or higher.
  • Must be certified as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification.
  • Must have the proper and current cybersecurity qualifications to perform IT privileged administrative functions in accordance with the DoD Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF) and the DoDM 8140.03, Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program.
  • Must meet the applicable DCWF Work Role [451] Foundation Qualifications, intermediate, which include:
    • Education: Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university. When used to satisfy the foundational portion of qualification, the degree must be conferred within the past 5 years by an institution of higher education that is accredited by a nationally recognized accreditor, unless continuous work in the relevant discipline can be demonstrated; OR
    • Personnel certification: CompTIA Cloud+ or GIAC Global Industry Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) or GIAC Security Essentials certification (GSEC) or (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DoD/Navy IT environments or enterprise network infrastructure programs (e.g., COMOPTEVFOR)
  • Additional relevant certifications beyond minimum (e.g., VMware, Microsoft, or cybersecurity certifications aligned with DoD requirements)
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and infrastructure alerting/threshold configuration
  • Experience supporting SAN environments, backup infrastructure, and data recovery operations
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management, system hardening, and STIG-compliant environments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in administering Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, group policies, and permissions
  • Ability to manage VMware vSphere/ESXi virtual infrastructures and support virtual server environments
  • Experience implementing and maintaining DISA STIG compliance, including remediation and checklist updates
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues using event logs, monitoring tools, and system analysis
  • Experience configuring and managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Commvault) and infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
