Job description

Director of BD, Renewables

Our client is a turn-key energy solutions contractor experiencing rapid growth within their renewable division. This firm is looking to bring on a Director of Business Development to spearhead the development of solar, energy storage, and hybrid renewable energy projects in the U.S.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree. A graduate degree (MBA) is desirable.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in renewable energy project development (preferably commercial, industrial, utility scale, and community solar).
  • Successful track record of executing complex energy projects and/or transactions.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, including a creative and proactive work ethic. As part of a lean and dynamic team, the candidate must be able to plan, oversee, and personally execute numerous projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute greenfield project development strategy.
  • Lead development of renewable energy projects from inception to successful financial close, working with in-house and external subject matter experts.
  • Work closely with internal and external resources to structure, negotiate, and close project transactions.
  • Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of solar electric market conditions, rebate and tax incentives, and electric utility rate schedules.
  • Develop projects with PPA / EaaS / Community Solar offtake structures.
  • Responsible for budget and driving profitability of renewable energy projects.
  • Work with regulatory and policy experts to incorporate policy, incentives, and power market changes into development strategy.
  • Provide input into company business plan and development strategy.
