Veteran Service Assistant/Maintenance

This position reports directly to the Program Manager. The Veterans Service Assistant/Maintenance position assists in the daily implementation of day-to-day basic residential services, safety, maintenance and upkeep of the facility.

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Ensure high quality condition of the physical building(s) and surrounding area of the facility including all permanent and temporary structures as well as parking lot and surrounding landscape areas.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks to ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. Ensures effective coordination with all state agencies and other entities responsible for the upkeep of the facility and its property.
  • Maintains required maintenance logs of all facility equipment and units.
  • Provides recommendations to the Executive Management Team with respect to modifications of facility.
  • Implements directly or through contract modifications and/or repairs to facility in a timely fashion.
  • Works collaboratively with the Operations Manager to maintain needed physical building supply inventory
  • Conveying needs to the Program Manager to maintain supply inventory of supplies and ensures proper storage
  • Assists in the delivery of basic services (such as shelter, food, hygiene, etc.) to veterans served at the facility
  • Ensures harmonious atmosphere at the facility by maintaining communication with Executive Management team and maintaining a therapeutic community environment
  • Manage the delivery and handling of tenants' mail, ensuring accurate and timely distribution tenants
  • Assists tenants with the move-in and move-out from the facility
  • Responsible for addressing tenants' issues timely to ensure the non-interruption of services and or housing
  • Provide shuttle van transportation for tenants to community agencies such as the VA, DMV, and Social Security office, as well as essential destinations like grocery stores to support tenants' daily living needs.
  • Assists with maintenance and upkeep of the facility and ensures readiness for inspections
  • Responsible for implementation of all safety and emergency procedures
  • Facilitate inspections of rooms to ensure a clean, safe and hazardless environment
  • Conducts various administrative duties to include documentation of health and welfare check, inspections, incident reports, tenant's logs, etc.
  • Adheres to the site work order procedure
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to communicate and coordination with other facility staff
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Clean driving record abstract and ability to be covered by organization insurance
  • Must be energetic, dedicated to the mission and flexible
  • Must have at least two years experience with facility management or equivalent maintenance experience and/or ability.
  • Experience with programs, tenants' population, similar populations, or other relevant experience preferred
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residential staff
  • Must promote tenants-centered philosophy and skilled in creating/maintaining a sober environment
  • Must be energetic, dedicated to mission and flexible
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course.
  • Must be able to obtain OSHA 10/30 Certification
