Job Description:

Communicates and documents patient information effectively. Performs and interprets the results of physiological assessment accurately, recognizing high-risk individuals and designing/referring appropriate exercise prescription. Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients using test data, patient status, and current medication regimen. Monitors patients' response to therapy and revises plans accordingly. Provides exercise information for patients, peers, and the community, including public speaking and education classes. Ensures department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly. Participates in interdisciplinary committees, Performance Improvement activities, staff and student development. Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures, and other extensions of clinical expertise to the community. Maintains patient/client safety by explaining and demonstrating correct exercise technique and equipment use, closely supervising all activities and discontinuing patient’s exercise if the condition warrants. Meets department productivity standard defined by the department. Coordinates exercise program including referral proceedings, scheduling, program planning, and exercise supervision to achieve the goals of the department. Engages in ongoing professional development and promotes a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence-based practice. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Entry-level professional competency of Exercise Physiology theory, principles, and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy and commitment to patient-oriented practice
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Education:
• Bachelor's [Required]
Field of Study:
• in Exercise Science or related field
Work Experience:
• 1+ experience with the application of exercise concepts/techniques/methods in a biological or medical setting [Preferred]
