Nexus Family Healing is looking to hire a Donor Relations Specialist to join our fantastic Development team!

Pay and Schedule:

Position Summary: Our Donor Relations Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive donor stewardship, engagement, and communication strategies that strengthen relationships with donors and enhance their connection to the mission of Nexus Foundation. This position coordinates personalized donor experiences, oversees stewardship and recognition activities, supports donor-centered communications, and maintains a portfolio of mid-level donors to increase donor retention and philanthropic investment.
Primary responsibilities:
Donor Stewardship & Experience
  • Develop and execute an overarching stewardship plan for Nexus Foundation donors that includes consistent appreciation, communication, and engagement.
  • Coordinate and deliver personalized stewardship touchpoints and recognition activities.
  • Assist with planning and executing donor engagement and stewardship events, tours, and recognition gatherings.

Donor Communications
  • Partner with the foundation and communications teams in the creation of donor-centered content such as newsletters, donor stories, and annual stewardship reports.
  • Review donor messaging to ensure alignment with organizational voice and fundraising strategy.
  • Support development of stewardship event materials, talking points, and donor updates.

Donor Engagement and Community Outreach
  • Maintain a portfolio of mid-level donors with focus on growing donor support through personalized communication and engagement.
  • Partner with Events and Corporate Relations Manager to maximize impact of fundraising events through thoughtful event communications, donor engagement, follow up, and relationship building.
  • Conduct community presentations and outreach activities
  • Steward and organize distribution and reporting of in-kind gifts.

Data & Reporting
  • Ensure donor records are accurate and updated, including contact information, engagement notes, and communication preferences.
  • Utilize CRM (Raiser's Edge) to track stewardship activity, donor retention metrics, and recognition lists.
  • Work with Donor Services Director and other team members to review data to identify trends and opportunities to strengthen donor relationships.

Collaboration & Cross-Department Support
  • Coordinate with foundation and communications teams and others to gather stories, outcomes, and impact data for donor communications.
  • Support fundraising colleagues in developing donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.

Company Policy, Procedure, Training & Compliance
  • Remains self-motivated and demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a part of a team; effectively collaborates with colleagues on projects and special initiatives.
  • Remains current on all required training and certifications; maintains working and applicable knowledge of all Nexus policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate boundaries are maintained in all staff/donor interactions
  • Exercises moral judgement and sound decision making; exercises the ability to plan, prioritize, organize and problem and effectively manage multiple projects and activities while responding to change.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding client and donor information and comply with Nexus policies involving client and donor privacy and
  • Demonstrates an acceptance and respectfulness toward diversity concerning commonalities and differences such as gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, sexual preference, disability, and gender identity.
  • Understands all Nexus policies and procedures and applies policies as needed.

Requirements
Required Education and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in development, donor relations, stewardship, or related field
  • Strong writing and communication skills with a donor centered mindset
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Experience working with a nonprofit CRM or donor database
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience in a mid size or multi-department nonprofit environment
  • Familiarity with donor segmentation, stewardship best practices, and annual giving cycles
  • Ability to create engaging donor materials (stories, letters, impact pieces)
