Job Summary

Develops, coordinates and manages initiatives designed to promote and represent the organization and brand the community. Develops and administers outreach programs to engage, support, and collaborate with the community. Responsible to create new and cultivate existing relationships which benefit the organizationsโ€™ operations and reputation. Serves as the organization's liaison with various nonprofit and community service constituents and stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with Business Development team to create and execute the corporate Community Relations work plan.
  • Works in support of, and along with internal departments, as appropriate, to identify community investment and support needs, and engage employee participation as required.
  • Oversees the charitable contributions program in a manner as directed, including preparation of monthly donation budget reports.
  • Responsible for administration of community programsโ€™ budgets and schedules, and others as assigned.
  • Responsible for managing a departmental calendar of events, administering process for leadership, staff and member invitations, and securing participation.
  • Provides community organizations, (Non-Profit and Service) with a single point of contact for organization resources and solutions.
  • Responsible for administration of programs that serve specific community services, including employee volunteer programs, giving programs, and/or utilities member assistance programs at the direction of leadership.
  • Provides solutions within the organizationโ€™s resources to meet the needs, requests, and questions of community partners.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations in a consistent and professional manner.
  • Responsible for the successful execution of community outreach programs as defined.
  • Responsible for measuring program performance and recommend adjustments to optimize results.
  • Works with the Communications Department to ensure successful advertising and marketing for outreach programs and events, for any needed updates to the website and social media as it relates to member outreach programs and events, and to ensure appropriate branding for event/program signage, give-a-ways, etc.
  • Works with other department directors to make sure community outreach is relevant to current needs, issues, etc.
  • Prepares monthly reports regarding the status of community outreach programs and events.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Responsible to contribute to a positive work environment by treating others with honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism. Promptly addresses challenges with courtesy and respect.
  • Responsible for all administrative tasks associated with duties as defined and assigned.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications of Position

Education and Experience : Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are most often acquired through the following level of academic education, formal training and range of practical experience, or an equivalent combination as stated below:

Education Requirement : Bachelorโ€™s degree is required. Preferred fields include: Public Relations, Communications, Business, Education. Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be accepted in lieu of education requirement.

Experience : Four to seven years of experience in a service industry, business management, nonprofit management, utility operations, or education and responsible for outreach and/or community relations experience using Microsoft Office suite, Salesforce or other CRM tools.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in written and spoken word.
  • Skill and comfort in preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Ability to develop processes and strategies and execute tactics.
  • Sound understanding of business development, public relations, advertising, and marketing principles, planning and practices, and strategic planning fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with a variety of business development and communication related platforms and technology.
  • Base-level knowledge of utilities industry and /or ability/willingness to learn.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and enjoys working on a diverse range of business development projects.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and communications expertise needed to advise and collaborate with internal partners.
  • Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply project management principles.
  • Continues to learn and develop professionally.
  • Adheres to organizational values.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Blue Light Exposure: Exposure to a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Environment: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and may occur outside as needed.
