EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

COMMUNITY WELLNESS WORKER


JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME

WAGE: $20.00 - $25.00/HR.

DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED


Eagle Lake First Nation is seeking a compassionate and culturally grounded Community Wellness Worker to support the health and well-being of our community. This role focuses on delivering culturally appropriate programs, promoting mental health, and preventing substance abuse. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Anishinaabe traditions and be committed to fostering wellness through community engagement and traditional healing practices.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver wellness programs based on Anishinaabe teachings.
  • Facilitate workshops on mental health, addictions, and healthy living.
  • Support individuals in accessing services and navigating health systems.
  • Work closely with Elders and community leaders to integrate cultural teachings.
  • Track program participation and provide regular wellness reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Social Work, Mental Health, or related field.
  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention and/or addictions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis de-escalation skills.
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and wellness practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
