Job description

40% - Student Organization Support
  • Implement a comprehensive student engagement curriculum that supports the mission of the SEC.
  • Oversee direct outreach, development, and support for two or more categories of student organizations, their leaders, and their advisors.
  • Oversee the process for registering student organizations and the revision of Registered Student Organization Guidelines, in collaboration with the program coordinators and the Associate Director of Community Programs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of campus involvement fairs and other large-scale events designed to connect students to registered student organizations, including Welcome Back Bash and Winterfest.
  • Oversee the planning and development of biweekly student programs in partnership with registered student organizations.
  • Manage program budgets associated with registered student organizations.
20% - Programming 
  • Lead the development and implementation of history and heritage programs designed to connect students. This includes initiating and negotiating contracts, performing host responsibilities, and managing event logistics.
  • Manage program budgets associated with student community and engagement programs and educational workshops in collaboration with the Associate Director. 
15% - Education
  • Develop and implement workshops for registered student organizations including, but not limited to these topics: student organization registration process, event planning, budget management, fundraising, and history/heritage months.
  • Design ongoing training and communications strategies for registered student organization advisors. Ensure advisors receive regular training on risk management, conflict management, funding opportunities, and other Registered Student Organization Guidelines.
10% - Assessment and Administration
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate program learning outcomes. Ensure all registered student organization and community programming advances departmental, Student Affairs, and university learning outcomes; this includes the submission of monthly data points and identifying trends over time and projections for future needs.     
  • Serve as a student engagement support specialist; attending recruitment fairs, pipeline programming and other marketing events to further SEC's outreach efforts.
  • Manage the communication functions of Rock Chalk Central, KU's student organization database and platform.
  • Host weekly office hours for student/advisor organization support meetings.
10% - Supervision
  • Supervise and provide leadership, direction, training and support to one graduate assistant.  
5% - Other Duties as Assigned
  • Serve on the Student Engagement Center, Student Affairs, and university-wide committees as needed.

,The Student Engagement Center at the University of Kansas serves as a hub for student involvement, leadership development, impact programs and resources, and community programs. Through the Student Engagement Center, KU students deepen their connection to each other and KU by exploring communities and opportunities to thrive during their Jayhawk experience. Students will engage through registered student organizations, leadership experiences, and professional development workshops. The Center will impact students by providing for direct needs in the Campus Cupboard, Pregnant and Parenting Pantry, clothing closets, and the Emergency Aid Network. Jayhawks will build community as they connect with peers and engage in student support programs. The Student Engagement Center enhances existing programs by providing greater resources and deeper connections across Student Affairs.
The Student Program Coordinator for Community Programs is responsible for strengthening the KU student experience through registered student organizations and community engagement programs. The Student Program Coordinator for Community Programs will supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff to implement a dynamic student involvement and engagement experience. The Student Program Coordinator for Community Programs engages with students, staff, faculty, student organization advisors, and the community to extend the reach of the Student Engagement Center.
The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Community Programs in the Student Engagement Center. Student Affairs at the University of Kansas makes learning possible through programs and services designed to support students across their KU experience as they achieve their academic and personal goals. Student Affairs serves as an advocate for students across the University community.
