Job Summary
The Community Affairs Coordinator supports the planning, coordination and execution of Community Affairs programs, projects and Governmental and Public Affairs department operations. This role manages records, tracking and reporting for key initiatives, including charitable giving, sponsorships, employee engagement, volunteerism, workforce development and community outreach. The Coordinator supports the charitable giving process by maintaining application materials, documenting evaluations and funding decisions, coordinating nonprofit communications and tracking program outcomes. The position also provides administrative and logistical support for meetings, events and internal campaigns, while coordinating with corporate communications, company leadership, employee campaign committees and external community partners to advance department goals.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate charitable giving and sponsorship processes, including nonprofit communications, application intake, eligibility review, attendance requests, decision tracking and final notifications.
  • Maintain accurate charitable giving records and reporting tools to document applications, evaluations, funding decisions, sponsorship commitments, community impact and program outcomes.
  • Create and maintain a directory of key territory contacts and facilitate companywide communications with community partners.
  • Develop and coordinate employee engagement initiatives, including volunteer events, internal campaigns and other employee-focused programs.
  • Assist other departments with Community Affairs-related strategies, including energy assistance initiatives, employee campaigns and volunteer activities.
  • Support department operations for Community and Governmental Affairs, including invoicing, payables, vendor setup, purchase requests, expense documentation, agenda preparation, calendar coordination, meeting scheduling, supplies, event materials and budget tracking.
  • Support public presence and community involvement initiatives, including energy fairs, career fairs, educational programs, public events and related outreach activities
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, volunteer activities, sponsorship events and community programs, including registration, materials, room setup, catering, travel and post-event follow-up.
  • Create documents, presentations and reports that communicate progress, outcomes and impact of department initiatives.

Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred
  • Three or more years of communications and program coordination experience

Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Oracle.
  • Willing to travel to regional offices regularly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating teams and/or meetings, with a desire to continue developing in this area.
  • Proven relationship-building skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter with exceptional follow-through skills.
  • Ability to adapt and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Critical thinking ability.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that includes the ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or access to transportation to attend meetings and events in the territory.
  • Normal schedule is four days in the office and one day working from home.
