Position Summary
The Assistant Residential Manager plays a dual role of leadership and direct support within GIL Foundation's Adults with Disabilities Program. This position assists in managing daily operations while also working hands-on with clients to support their personal care, daily living, and community participation. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and skilled in leading a team while maintaining a person-centered, respectful approach to client care.
Second Shift Full Time Schedule:
Sun- 2pm-10pm
Mon-Tues 12pm-10pm
Wed-Thurs 12p-6p
Fri-Sat OFF
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Program Manager in overseeing daily program operations and staff supervision.
  • Provide direct, hands-on support to adults with disabilities, including assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility as needed.
  • Support clients in developing and maintaining daily living skills, social skills, and independence.
  • Assist with implementing individual service plans (ISPs) and behavioral support strategies.
  • Coordinate and participate in recreational and community inclusion activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and attendance records.
  • Ensure all staff follow agency policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Support scheduling, staff training, and performance evaluations.
  • Communicate effectively with families, guardians, case managers, and outside agencies.
  • Uphold health and safety protocols and report any concerns immediately.
  • Serve as acting Program Manager in their absence to ensure continuity of care and operations.

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or lead staff experience preferred.
  • Must be comfortable providing hands-on care including bathing, feeding, and other daily living supports.
  • Knowledge of DDS regulations, person-centered care, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and documentation systems.
  • Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license, reliable transportation, and pass all required background checks.
