Position Summary

The Assistant Program Director plays a key leadership role in supporting the daily operations, programming, and community engagement efforts of an Encircle home. Working closely with the Program Director, this position helps create inclusive, affirming experiences for LGBTQ+ youth and families while ensuring programs run smoothly and effectively.


The Assistant Program Director supervises volunteers and interns, supports community partnerships, helps maintain a welcoming and safe environment, and assists with administrative and operational responsibilities. This role also serves as the acting Program Director when needed.


This is a full time position with 40 hours per week. Availability required M-F from 12-8pm and some weekends. Please note Pride month (June) is a time off blackout period.


The starting pay for this role is $18 - $20 Hourly, depending on experience. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, employer paid life insurance, paid holidays, PTO and paid sick, and 401k with up to 4% employer match.


Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of youth and family programs.
  • Help ensure programs are inclusive, affirming, trauma-informed, and responsive to community needs.
  • Monitor participation and guest engagement to support program growth and impact.
  • Reinforce community guidelines and safety protocols.

Volunteer & Intern Leadership

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise volunteers and interns.
  • Provide coaching, support, and accountability to volunteer team members.
  • Foster a positive, mission-driven volunteer experience.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate program documentation and reports.
  • Support budgeting, supply management, scheduling, and administrative systems.
  • Assist with incident reporting, communication, and project coordination.
  • Ensure internal databases and tracking systems remain current and organized.

Community Engagement

  • Represent Encircle at community events and outreach opportunities.
  • Support relationship-building with schools, community organizations, and local partners.
  • Assist with initiatives that increase awareness of Encircle's programs and services.

Home Operations

  • Help maintain a welcoming, clean, and inclusive environment for guests and visitors.
  • Coordinate with facilities and operations teams to address maintenance needs.
  • Ensure the home reflects Encircle's values, branding, and standards.

Leadership Support

  • Serve as acting Program Director when needed.
  • Provide leadership and continuity during Program Director absences.
  • Support team communication, problem-solving, and day-to-day decision-making.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, Education, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth, young adults, families, or community-based programs.
  • Experience building positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ youth and families.
  • Skilled at building relationships and creating welcoming environments.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable navigating challenges with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
  • Committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Preferred

  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and families.
  • Experience supervising volunteers, interns, or staff.
