About the Opportunity
Healthcare Gap Year Program Manager - The Roux Institute
This position is responsible for all aspects of development and implementation of the Healthcare Gap Year program. This position is part of the Life Sciences, Health, and Engineering Department at the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine.
The Gap Year program (now in its fourth year) is designed to help address the severe health workforce shortage in Maine, and provide opportunities for recent college graduates by;
  • Making a direct connection between applicants aspiring to careers in healthcare with open entry-level healthcare positions across Maine;
  • Supporting participants with continued access to an academic institution, networking, and additional financial resources (when funding allows)
  • Supplying healthcare partners with a pool of talented and highly motivated individuals to fill critical vacancies in entry-level roles (Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, CNA, Phlebotomist, Technicians, etc.)

Job responsibilities to include:
  • Outreach and connecting with undergraduate programs at Northeastern, in Maine and across the United States to promote the recruitment, and successful engagement of participants into the programs;
  • Work with partner organizations and Roux faculty to create and collect program outcome measures;
  • Oversee administration and updates to the application process for participants,
  • Serve as primary contact for program applicants and participants, including from initial application, after hire, and during employment period;
  • Serve as the primary contact for all partner organizations;
  • Administer wraparound services for participants, including career mapping, and coordination of programming to support employment experience and future career success;
  • Coordinate submission of required reports to funders and stakeholders
  • Connect participants to activities at the Roux and in the Greater Portland area
  • Connect participants to Roux housing information, as needed.

Weekly tasks include but are not limited to:
Participants
  • Recruiting applicants
  • Providing updates to participants
  • Administering and evaluating surveys
  • Responding to questions from, or the needs of participants

Financial
  • Creating and managing program budget
  • Processingstipends and payments

Contracts
  • Drafting andsubmitting contracts
  • Tracking contractsthroughlifecycle

Partners/Relationship Management
  • Recruiting new healthcare and academic partners
  • Maintaining relationships with partners
  • Scheduling and leading meetings

Programming
  • Managing Northeastern sponsored accountsfor participants
  • Researching and connecting participants to events and conferences (state and regional)
  • Connecting participants to academic partners and Maine based industries (MPHA, etc.)
  • Being available for on-site (live) check-ins

Fundraising
  • Drafting grant applications and funding proposals
  • Marketing
  • Liaising with Roux marketing team
  • Connecting with professional organizations
  • Managing program website
