Job description

Overview
Methodist College, in partnership with Carle Health, is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to serve as the Assistant Program Director (APD) for our developing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Opportunity Details
This is a unique opportunity to help build a new Nurse Anesthesia program from the ground up while maintaining clinical practice. Working alongside the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will support program development, accreditation preparation, curriculum design, faculty collaboration, student mentorship, and clinical partnership development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with development and implementation of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program.
  • Support accreditation activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum design, course delivery, and program evaluation.
  • Teach didactics, lead simulation, and chair doctoral projects.
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinical preceptors, and healthcare partners.
  • Participate in student recruitment, admissions, advising, and mentorship.
  • Support clinical placement coordination and student competency assessment.
  • Represent the program at professional meetings, recruitment events, and community engagements.

Qualifications
Required
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus in nurse anesthesia.
  • Current NBCRNA certification.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a CRNA.
  • Illinois RN and APRN licensure, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and student success.

Required Within 6 Months of Hire - with program support and structured mentorship
  • Formal preparation in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction.
  • Demonstrated academic engagement through teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, or related scholarly activity.

Preferred
  • Leadership or administrative experience.
  • Experience teaching in clinical, simulation, or classroom settings.
  • Experience with curriculum development or program evaluation.
  • Prior exposure to COA accreditation processes.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as the AANA.
  • 3 years of experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $165/hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
