Position Description
The Program Assistant would be responsible for facilitating the day to day tasks needed for the efficient and seamless running of the program, as well as any other duties delegated by the site coordinators. This position requires someone who works well in a fast paced environment and can quickly adapt to various situations as they arise.
Essential Functions:
  • Support program providers and teachers during student arrival time
  • Maintain communication and coordination among all staff and volunteers
  • Maintain an inventory of program supplies and materials
  • Facilitate transitions when needed during program hours
  • Observe programming and record student response
  • Reinforce the homework policy by visiting classrooms and ensuring students are completing homework or reading a book
  • Foster the development of family and community partnerships during programming hours
  • Relay and report any student or parent concerns in a timely manner
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by the site coordinators

Qualifications/Certificates:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with school aged children is preferred
  • Able to be physically active with and engage youth
  • Experience with urban settings and diverse populations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
