SCOPE OF POSITION: The Resident Program Assistant implements multi-faceted Resident Programs as scheduled or assigned by the Resident Program Specialist to ensure the programs meet the functional needs and reflect the interests of each resident at Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Community. Works in groups or one-on-one with the residents to support the wide variety of resident activities on a daily basis. Actively participates in the resident dining experience.

We want our residents to feel safe, comfortable, and supported in all aspects of their lives to include not only physical, but also emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and intellectual well-being. The Resident Program Assistant conducts program activities that meet the social, religious, physical, vocational, emotional, and cognitive needs of residents and further, fosters a positive and inclusive Assisted Living Community environment by encouraging resident participation, facilitating social interactions, and promoting a welcoming atmosphere. The Resident Program Assistant builds strong bonds with residents/families, serves in the dining room, assists with special events, maintains organization of supplies, completes all documentation in accordance with facility/state/federal policies, and gives exceptional customer service to residents/families. As part of our cohesive team, the Resident Program Assistant attends various in-service education opportunities, participates in staff training, and must be able to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/department, including flexibility for special events and rotating weekend/holiday requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • One (1) year of related work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, work and experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience working with elderly individuals.
  • Must be fluent in English and comfortable speaking in groups of people.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
