About the Opportunity:

Community Corrections is currently looking for a Community Corrections Center Supervisor to lead our Day and Night shift teams. We are seeking self-motivated, team-oriented individuals who are eager to make a positive community impact working with Justice Involved Individuals.

A Community Corrections Center Supervisor has broad supervisory responsibilities over staff and manages the day-to-day operations and security of the center during an assigned work shift. Work is performed in a minimum-security adult residential corrections facility that operates twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. The role uses knowledge gained from experience and training, and exercise independent initiative and judgment when solving problems and accomplishing goals and objectives.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and theories of human behavior-individual differences in ability and personality, learning and motivation. and assessment of behavioral disorders.

  • The criminal justice system, including principles and procedures of supervision, motivation, training, and evaluation of staff performance.

Skills to:

  • Develop, motivate, and supervise personnel as they work.

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work unit activities.

  • Monitor and assess performance of individuals and the work unit and make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Speak to others in a manner that effectively conveys information.

  • Use modern office equipment, computers, and software.

Ability to:

  • Maintain accurate and complete records and reports.

  • Communicate orally and in writing so that others will understand.

  • Read and understand written information, reports, and ideas.

  • Negotiate with others to settle disputes and defuse conflicts.

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate staff.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree incorrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field;AND1 year of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience;OR

  • An Associate degree incorrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field;AND3 years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience;OR

  • A high school diploma or equivalent;AND5 years of experience in corrections, criminal justice, counseling, social work, or a related field which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Work varied shifts including weekends, evenings, and nights.

  • Available to be on-call as needed.

  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.

  • Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.

  • Must acquire and maintain CPR and first aid certification.

  • Must be certified and in good standing as a Corrections Officer by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) or have the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

  • Must be a US citizen, or become a US citizen within 18 months of hire.

  • Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment, psychological assessment, and the DPSST pre-employment medical exampriorto appointment.
