Job description

Developing, operating and managing the data center infrastructure and facilities the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility and capital and operational cost efficiency in a safe, healthy working environment. Additionally, it is important to us that we play a positive role in the communities in which we operate our data centers.Meta is seeking an experienced individual to join our data center community development team. This role will partner with our site selection, operations, communications, and public policy teams to advance community development initiatives and maintain important relationships in each of our global data center regions. Please note that this is a remote position available only to candidates based in El Paso, TX or Rayville, LA.
Community Engagement Manager Responsibilities:
  • Create, maintain, and manage relationships with key stakeholders in the data center community.
  • This includes local county elected officials, business organizations, non-profit organizations, local school districts, etc.
  • Partner with internal teams to understand company and infrastructure related goals and initiatives and how to advance them at the local level.
  • Maintain and optimize Meta's regional data center community development plan.
  • Build key relationships with local community partners that help alleviate risks locally to advance infrastructure development.
  • Monitor local community needs and report back to leadership with regular cadence with risks to larger business goals.
  • Work in partnership with internal teams to develop strategies for community involvement.
  • Coordinate diligence and strategic planning surrounding charitable activities and other community initiatives.
  • Manage external relationships through engagements and media interviews in local markets.
  • Lead various projects related to our data centers as needed.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 50%).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in public affairs, nonprofit management, government relations, economic development or public facing engagement
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, external affairs, business field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with nonprofit grants, donation, and corporate social responsibility planning
  • Experience to communicate and work with highly confidential information
  • Experience with communication, organizational and program management skills, with the experience to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating and building productive cross-functional and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with local and state policy and legislative processes. Experience with understanding of legislative proceedings and planning at a local level

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Data center experience
  • Public Relations Experience
  • Master of Public Administration or Master of Business Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
