LAFCU is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development & Community Engagement Officer to help grow our membership, strengthen community relationships, and expand LAFCU's presence throughout the communities we serve.
This highly visible role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, conducting membership drives, and representing LAFCU at community and sponsored events. The Business Development & Community Engagement Officer will serve as a trusted ambassador for LAFCU, connecting individuals, businesses, and community organizations with financial solutions that support their needs and financial well-being.

  • Develop and execute business development strategies designed to expand LAFCU's membership base and increase market presence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, community organizations, community leaders, government agencies, potential members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct 5-10 membership drives per month at businesses, organizations, and community events, with a focus on generating measurable membership and product growth.
  • Identify new business and community partnership opportunities through networking, market research, outreach, and relationship development.
  • Attend LAFCU-sponsored events to identify opportunities for membership growth, strengthen community relationships, and enhance LAFCU's visibility.
  • Develop engaging workshops, networking opportunities, and outreach initiatives that deepen relationships with community and business partners.
  • Partner with organizations LAFCU sponsors to identify additional opportunities for collaboration and membership growth.
  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies that increase awareness of LAFCU's products, services, financial resources, and community impact.
  • Collaborate with community partners on joint initiatives, sponsorships, networking functions, and events that support LAFCU's mission and growth objectives.
  • Work closely with internal teams to maximize the value and impact of business and community partnerships.
  • Engage current and prospective members to better understand their financial needs and connect them with relevant LAFCU products and services.
  • Support initiatives designed to enhance the member experience, strengthen member relationships, and increase member loyalty.
  • Utilize LAFCU's CRM system to document contacts, track referrals, measure membership-drive results, and identify future business opportunities.
  • Track key performance indicators and evaluate the effectiveness of business development and community engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for executive management regarding membership drives, partnership activity, community engagement results, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use data, feedback, and market trends to continually refine business development and community engagement strategies.
  • Ensure business development and partnership activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, LAFCU policies, and established risk-management practices.
  • Stay informed about financial-services trends, community needs, competitive activity, and emerging business-development opportunities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Community Development, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
  • Proven business development experience with demonstrated measurable results.
  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, relationship management, public relations, or a related area.
  • Strong understanding of financial products and services, including lending, savings, and retail and business financial products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence and ability to speak publicly and deliver presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with businesses, community organizations, members, and other diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented approach with the ability to independently manage multiple initiatives, priorities, events, and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and other relevant business technology.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to conduct membership drives, attend meetings, and participate in community events.
  • Flexibility to work outside traditional business hours when necessary to support community events, networking opportunities, meetings, and membership drives.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with a credit union, financial institution, nonprofit organization, or community-focused organization.
  • Knowledge of financial literacy principles and community development practices.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships with businesses, community organizations, government agencies, or community leaders.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage business-development pipelines, referrals, contacts, and performance results.
  • Demonstrated success generating membership, customer, client, or business growth through outreach, networking, partnerships, or events.
