Job description

Relocation Support Available Galena is a truly special place to call home, and we want to help you get here. NuvemRx is proud to support the right candidate in making a smooth, exciting transition to this incredible community. Let's talk about what that looks like for you.
Who We Are
NuvemRx helps community health providers deliver on their mission by simplifying the complexity of pharmacy operations, with a suite of scalable solutions that integrate software, intelligence, and expert support to illuminate savings, expand access, and elevate patient care.
We are also a fast-growing company, which means you bring strong ownership, comfort with ambiguity, resilience, and a bias toward action.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a brand-new NuvemRx pharmacy embedded within a community health center in Galena, IL, a charming, historic town in the heart of northwest Illinois. You won't be stepping into a pre-built routine; you'll be building something meaningful from the ground up.
As Pharmacist-in-Charge and Pharmacy Manager, you will serve as the clinical and operational leader of this site, partnering directly with health center providers, managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, and serving as a trusted member of the patient care team. You'll have the autonomy to shape the patient experience and grow the pharmacy's impact within the community. This role reports to NuvemRx Pharmacy leadership and works in close partnership with our health center client and its clinical staff.
What We Are Looking For:
At NuvemRx, we hold a high bar because our work directly impacts patient care. We look for people who embody our core values:
• Mission Always: Every choice is a chance to serve our customers and improve healthcare.
• Be a Pioneer: Take initiative, solve problems, and build what does not yet exist.
• Do the Right Thing the Right Way: Lead with integrity, compliance, and thoughtful execution.
• Stronger Together: Own your role, collaborate deeply, and elevate the team.
What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Partnership
Serve as a clinical resource and trusted partner to health center providers, offering drug therapy consultation, medication education, and proactive patient outreach.
• Counsel patients on medications, adherence, chronic disease management, and preventive care, building lasting relationships with the community you serve.
• Participate in clinical team meetings, collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, and contribute to population health initiatives at the health center.
• Administer immunizations and support vaccination programs as applicable.
Pharmacy Operations & Compliance
• Lead all aspects of day-to-day pharmacy operations including workflow management, inventory, patient safety, and quality assurance.
• Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, Fraud, Waste & Abuse, and applicable pharmacy practice standards.
• Maintain compliance with health center facility policies and NuvemRx operational standards.
• Oversee accurate dispensing, prescription verification, and documentation practices.
Team Leadership & Development
• Hire, onboard, and manage pharmacy staff, including technicians, fostering a culture of care, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Identify knowledge gaps and support staff development through coaching, education, and on-the-job training.
• Set and model the standard for patient-first service and professional excellence.
Growth & Client Relationship Management
• Build and maintain a strong partnership with the health center client, acting as the primary pharmacy liaison for clinical staff and administration.
• Identify opportunities to expand pharmacy services, improve patient outcomes, and grow the pharmacy's role within the health center.
• Support NuvemRx's broader mission by sharing insights, contributing to best practices, and collaborating with the broader pharmacy leadership team.
Who Thrives in This Role
• You're energized by the idea of building something new; this is a launch role, and you're excited to shape the culture, processes, and patient experience from day one.
• You lead by example and take genuine pride in the quality of care your pharmacy delivers.
• You build strong relationships naturally, with patients, providers, and teammates alike.
• You're comfortable being the expert in the room and confident navigating ambiguity with good judgment.
• You're drawn to community health and find purpose in serving patient populations that depend on accessible, high-quality pharmacy care.
• You're open to putting down roots in a community like Galena- a welcoming, historic town with a strong quality of life and a genuine need for dedicated healthcare professionals
Requirements
What You Bring
• Licensed pharmacist (PharmD or BS Pharmacy) in good standing with current Illinois licensure or eligibility to obtain it.
• Demonstrated ability to manage pharmacy operations independently, with a strong track record in patient care and compliance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with patients, providers, and clinical staff at all levels.
• Comfortable operating in an independent, community-focused setting with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain composure in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Experience
• 5+ years of pharmacist experience; 3+ years in a pharmacy management or leadership role.
• Experience in a retail, community, or health center pharmacy setting.
• Familiarity with 340B programs is a plus, but not required.
• Immunization certification preferred.
• Experience with pharmacy growth strategy, client relationship management, or community health is a bonus
