Job Description: Community Organizing Intern - Part-Time (Unpaid)
Position Title: Community Organizing Intern - Part-Time (Unpaid)
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Reports to: Oklahoma Statewide Organizer
Overview:
Anthropocene Alliance (A2) is the nation's largest coalition of frontline communities fighting for climate and environmental justice. We work with over 400 member communities across the U.S. to support grassroots leaders addressing pollution, climate change, and systemic environmental inequities. A2 is building State Organizing Committees (SOCs) to deepen local collaboration, expand community power, and drive policy change.
We are seeking motivated, passionate Organizing Interns to support our field team and SOCs. Interns will gain hands-on experience in grassroots organizing, campaign development, and community outreach while supporting frontline leaders in their fight for environmental justice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist A2 Organizers and SOC leaders with outreach, meeting coordination, and member communication
  • Help maintain Airtable databases, event calendars, and contact lists
  • Support the planning and logistics of virtual and in-person events, trainings, and direct actions
  • Conduct research on local environmental issues, policies, and power structures
  • Assist with social media outreach, digital organizing, and community engagement
  • Take notes and help draft summaries and follow-up materials from SOC meetings
  • Help develop tools and resources for member groups (e.g., toolkits, action guides)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest in climate justice, environmental justice, or grassroots organizing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a remote team
  • Familiarity with social media, Google Workspace, and tools like Airtable or EveryAction is a plus
  • Experience with or connection to frontline communities is strongly encouraged
