Job Description
Live-in position, responsible for the supervision and daily operation of one residence hall.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES RELOCATION TO LIVE ON CAMPUS FULL-TIME.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions:
Supervision
1. Supervise day-to-day operation of the residence hall and facility up-keep
• Review and report all requests for maintenance, keys, equipment, damages, etc.
• Conduct building safety checks through daily walkthroughs and report anything that is
damaged or needs attention.
• Address issues concerning the residence hall facility and compile reports
2. Supervise two - four Resident Assistants (RAs/assistantship position) and a number of residence
hall desk workers (work-study position)
• Provide resources, training, guidance, support, and on-going staff development opportunities
necessary for staff to be successful and effective
• Communicate all relative information between department administration and residence hall staff • Collect, review, and submit staff reports to the Housing Director in a timely manner Create schedules with residence hall staff (RA's and work study positions)
• Approve staff schedules/work hours and verify accuracy of timesheets
• Meet with staff twice a month to conduct check-ins and provide support.
• Coordinate with Housing Staff to plan and execute at least 2 events per semester for the residence hall.
• Meet with staff as necessary and confront inadequate job performance, when needed, and terminate employment/revoke scholarships in cooperation with Housing Director
3. Supervise resident behavior and compliance with policies and procedures as stated in the Student Handbook
• Conduct room inspections routinely as scheduled (bi-weekly) and randomly as needed
• Enforce all rules and regulations stated in the Student Handbook while promoting resident rights and responsibilities through fair and consistent administration
• Help resident Assistants to create GroupMes for each hall within the Residence Hall for more streamlined communication.
• Notify residents of any changes in policy, important dates and reminders. Communicate this via distributing flyers, residence hall GroupMes, emails, and submitted text requests.
• Report all incidents, disturbances, and violations to MCC Campus Police and the Housing Director (Violations with a fine should always be accompanied by a Violation form notifying the student, Housing Director, and Business Office of charges).
• Participate in the disciplinary process when necessary
Counseling and Referral
1. Be available, approachable, and responsive to all residents.
• Clearly communicate availability, work email, work phone, and the on-call phone.
2. Refer residents to appropriate school departments or outside professional services regarding personal or academic needs.
3. Mediate conflicts and address issues between residents, roommates, staff, and/or guests when necessary.
Community Development
1. Provides leadership for residents and residence hall staff in developing a community environment that promotes and supports the following:
• Safety and security
• Responsibility and accountability for actions
• Students' personal, academic and social development
• Respect for the rights of others, multicultural diversity, understanding and consideration of individual needs in a group living environment
2. Maintain visibility and accessibility to residents with participation in Student Activities Events
• Attend, promote and encourage participation in school functions
• Make regular rounds through the residence hall at least once daily
3. Develop, coordinate, and implement social programming within the residence hall
- Host at least 2 events per semester for the residence hall
General Department Administration
1. Communicate information to and from department and housing residents
• Inform Housing Director of hall activities, staff efforts, facility needs, resident concerns, and all issues relevant for effective and efficient administration
• Keep residents and hall staff informed of all relevant housing matters and instructions
• Keep administration informed with written, thorough, detailed reports and residents informed by posted notices, distributed memos, residence hall meetings, individual letters, or other necessary means
• Keep all Resident Assistants trained and prepared to help facilitate for any emergency situation (fire, weather, active shooter, etc.)

2. Attend all required meetings, training/professional development sessions, school functions, and actively participate in committees as needed
• Attend bi-weekly administrative staff meetings; hold bi-weekly residence hall staff meetings (meetings may occur more often or on an individual basis as needed)
• Attend training/professional development when available and offered
• Take part in and contribute to assigned and/or volunteer committees
3. Share responsibility with other live-in administrative staff (Hall Directors) for responding to:
• Medical, safety, and security emergency needs
• Residents experiencing personal crises after hours
• Severe weather situations by monitoring, seeking shelter, evacuating and taking any other proper action
4. Assisting in Student Activities programming
• Be willing and available to assist in the execution (setting up, running the event, tearing down, other preparations) of Student Activities programming throughout the year
5. Supervise the Quave (when on the 3:00pm - 11:00pm shift)
• Supervise and manage the Quave Student Life Center from 4:30pm - 8:00pm on Mondays - Thursdays
• Keep the Quave clean, report any facilities needs, supervise students
• Lock both Quave doors and set alarm upon exit
6. Responsible for the Housing On-Call phone every other week trading out with the other Hall Director.
• The On-Call phone must remain on your person for the entirety of the week that it is in your possession.
• The On-Call phone must remain with the ringer on at all times.
• The On-Call phone must remain above 60% battery percentage at all times.
• No personal business should be conducted on the On-Call phone.
• Calls must be answered as quickly as possible, but work should be delegated to the staff member who is currently on shift at the time of the call.
7. Be active in the planning and execution of all Move In and Move Out Days/procedures
• Coordinate with cleaning and maintenance facilities to ensure proper preparedness of residents for rooms.
• Train all residential staff on procedures for Move In Day, Move Out Day, and any days throughout the semester where residents may have to move in or move out due to unforeseen reasons.
• Attend all meetings regarding preparation for Move In Day and Move Out day before and after all breaks.
8. The director must reside on campus and be available to hall residents during their weekly shifts and after hours as prescribed by their schedules. The director will also be on a 3-week rotation of having an "on-call" weekend for Housing where the director must remain in a 30-mile radius of Meridian Community College to assist residents with any needs over the weekend. For this reason and the hours worked, the director will receive housing and meals as a benefit.

9. Report any recommendations to change in policy to the Housing Director
• Design and conduct regularly scheduled emergency/safety drills
• Ensure every resident has signed and agreed to the Housing Contract and understands the policies, procedures, and rules that are in place.
• Ensure compliance, review, and submit suggestions for revision of the rules and regulations
10. Safeguard the confidentiality of all discussions, decisions, information, materials, and communication with residents/students and of departmental administrative staff by exercising absolute discretion in the handling of housing issues and school matters.
Required Qualifications
• Six months or more professional work experience, preferably in a community college or university setting.
• Understanding of and passion for the Community College student
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse population
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
