POSITION SUMMARY:ย 

Under the direction of the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Development Associate is responsible for the administrative support of the Association-wide Philanthropy Department including maintaining donor database and preparing donor communications. This role helps create a welcoming, accurate, and responsive donor experience that reflects the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and is well versed in Development information and record maintenance. The Development Associate will also support fundraising volunteers and participate in related functions and events as assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Acting as administrator for donor databases (Daxko), manages the accurate receipting and designation of all donations including recording gifts, preparing deposits, tracking donor notes and other transactions as well as generating reports and mailing lists.
  • Prepares acknowledgement letters, invoices and other correspondence to donors.
  • Optimize the use of fundraising software to ensure accurate reporting of donors, pledges and various demographic information.
  • Maintain donor files for individuals, foundation and corporations.
  • Assemble media and donor kits for campaign trainings and meetings.
  • Tracks all expenses and manages purchase orders for Philanthropy Department.
  • Support Association wide cultivation, stewardship and fundraising events including tracking of attendees and expenses.ย ย 
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor information.ย ย 
  • Responsible for complying with all Greater Somerset County YMCA Policies and Procedures.
  • Adheres to and incorporates the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Attend trainings, seminars and meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure optimum operations in the Philanthropy Department.ย 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 2 years of related business or office management experience.
  2. Strong customer service, written and verbal communication, organizational, and database management skills. Experience supporting donor communications, gift processing, fundraising events, reporting, and confidential recordkeeping preferred.
  3. Experience with standard business software and office equipment. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Mail merge proficiency.ย 
  4. Ability to complete projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks in occasionally high stress situations.
  5. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and in a team environment.ย 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.ย ย 
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or obtain within 30 days of hireย 
  • Current Blood borne Pathogens certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Greater Somerset County YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire
