Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Research Development (RD) Assistant Director provides central office RD support services to Emory University leadership, faculty, and program staff throughout all Emory colleges and schools.
  • Key responsibilities of the role include activities that primarily support funding opportunity management, proposal development, networking, metrics management, feedback and writing, program innovation, and competitive intelligence.
  • Strategically matches external funding opportunities to researchers and teams and provides targeted outreach of the same.
  • Provides valuable input on the development of internal funding programming.
  • Serves as a leader for grant proposal submissions by leading teams using a comprehensive team-based approach with a core focus on strategic proposal development for targeted initiatives and/or highly complex proposals.
  • Sug​gests internal teaming arrangements and implements team science best practices.
  • Develops critical non-science components of grant proposals and guides others by providing technical writing support.
  • Designs, leads, and facilitates networking events.
  • Provides oversight to ensure high quality data for RD success metrics.
  • Provides leadership and oversight over the creation of competitive intelligence reports for funding opportunities as well as strategic planning for programs and services they manage.
  • May supervise direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience in related field, such as research development, proposal development, research administration, professional writing and editing, project management, and/or team management are required.
  • Advanced degree and prior experience working within a centralized office of research within an institution of higher education is preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
