Job description

This position is responsible for:

Assist in facilitating and monitoring Community center arts, sports, and recreational activities both on and off Salvation Army property; supervises and coaches sporting events; supervises and assists in activities in the arts; assists in maintaining the Community Center facilities, equipment, and grounds, assists and supports events and special functions as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Opens/closes the Community Center in compliance with established operating hours; ensures the center is properly secured during non-operating hours
  • Prepares and maintains a schedule of Community Center and outreach activities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Supervises patrons visiting the Community Center and participating in programs; ensures that patron's behavior remains consistent with center rules and regulations.
  • Supervises and assists in all programming including but not limited to that in the arts, sports and recreation.
  • Assists and supports events and special functions as requested and needed.
  • Drives and supervises patrons to and from activities as directed.
  • Supervises and coaches' sports and athletic activities; leads and motivates players to exhibit good sportsmanship.
  • Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Community center facilities, machines, and grounds including gym floor, fitness center, and group fitness rooms.
  • Reports any injuries to the supervisor immediately and instructs the injured party to complete an incident report; Runs or assists Community Center programs at schools or other sites as directed.
  • Promotes and communicates stories regarding meeting community needs and spreading the gospel.
  • Assists or leads in creating bulletin boards throughout the center promoting Kroc programs Assists marketing team with off-site promotion opportunities, including door-to-door campaigns.
  • Assist with light clerical duties e.g. preparing reports, research, etc.
  • Relieve or cover absences at reception desk by opening/closing cash register, checking members in, selling concessions and all other duties of reception desk.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six months’ experience in outward facing customer service role.
  • Experience in dance, theater, music, and/or organized sports preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

  • Valid State Driver’s License
