Job description

Community Center Supervisor

The Community Center Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operation of diversified boxing programs for the purpose of leisure activities, athletics, senior, cultural activities, and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, conducts, and oversees boxing programming in a recreation center.
  • Develops strategic plans for the recreation center.
  • Trains, supervises, monitors and evaluates staff at the assigned recreation center.
  • Prepares and recommends budget for areas of responsibility and directs approved expenditures for programs and facilities.
  • Ensures quality programs for athletics, cultural, educational, and adaptive and leisure activities.
  • Measures the success of each program and activity through customer surveys and other appropriate methods.
  • Assembles reports and prepares statistical information related to the recreation center.
  • Directs facility program and activity modifications and improvements.
  • Assists in recruiting, selecting, and evaluating center personnel.
  • Institutes a comprehensive volunteer program within each community center and for special events.
  • Ensures facilities and equipment are safeguarded and monitored by the department standard and ensures county and departmental policies are followed.

Education, Training and Experience

The Community Center Supervisor should possess, at minimum, a Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration, Recreation and Parks Administration, or a related field and at least four (4) years of experience in recreation programming; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Must be a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or be able to obtain certification within twenty four (24) months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skills in administering a comprehensive and diversified recreation boxing programs for all ages, abilities, and interests.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of parks and recreational interests and activities in a community for all age groups and activity levels.
  • Knowledge of personal computers for basic office usage.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with associates, participants, and public.
  • Ability to use all media for promotion of programs and events.
  • Skills in maximizing resources.
  • Ability to prepare federal and state grants.
  • Skills in written and oral communication.
