Job description

Summary The Community Center Coordinator I is a responsible for assisting with the supervising and conducting of leisure activities at assigned community recreation center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists in conducting and supervising parks/recreational activities to include sports, athletic tournaments, leisure games, cultural arts and other activities Assists in supervising, scheduling and coordinating the use of community center, parks and facilities at an assigned park. Demonstrates, organizes, teaches and leads parks/recreational activities for all age groups.

Assists in supervising assigned personnel and volunteers. Assists in the maintenance and with safety problems. Assists in collecting and reporting fees and charges.

Assists in keeping records and making reports. Makes budget recommendations for the operation of the center facilities and programs Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required. Responsible for a recreation program's daily operation.

They primarily organize and direct participants, schedule the use of facilities, set up and keep records of equipment use, and ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used and maintained properly. They may lead classes and provide instruction in a recreational activity, such as Zumba, basketball, fitness training, etc. May be required to work beyond normal hours during inclement weather or other emergency situations.

Education, Training and Experience The Community Center Coordinator I should possess, at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent, a Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, and at least two (2) years or more successful full-time working experience in parks/recreational programming; or any equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the appointing authority. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of parks/recreational activities. Knowledge of parks/recreational facilities.

Knowledge of organization of athletic events. Ability to work with various groups from age 6 to seniors. Ability to work with various sizes of groups.

Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to supervise subordinates when applied. Skills in written and oral communications.
