Job Description
The Fitness Center Assistant provides front-desk coverage and customer service in the College's Fitness Center during Open Recreation hours. Duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring Fitness Center access; enforcing policies and rules of etiquette; assisting with equipment sanitation; providing clerical support; alerting Fitness Center staff of any equipment safety or maintenance issues; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.
Your application to this position will remain active until December 31 of the current year. If you are not selected by that time, you must reapply to be considered. If you apply on or after November 1 of the current year, your application will remain active until December 31 of the following calendar year.
Required Education
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with CPR/AED certification.
Required Experience
No prior experience required; training will be provided for entry-level candidates.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Familiarity with MS Office applications.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with prior fitness and/or personal training work experience.
General Weekly Work Schedule
The work schedule varies according to the Open Recreation schedule and may include day, evening and weekend hours, not to exceed 9 hours per week.
The hours of part-time, as-needed employees are limited to a total of less than 500 hours in each fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
