Job description

Assistant Newscast Director 

WMTW, the ABC affiliate in Westbrook, Maine, has an opening for an Assistant Director. The Assistant Director works closely with the Newscast Director to execute all technical aspects of live newscast production. This position requires working various crew positions for live newscasts with the goal of preparing the Assistant Director for future Newscast Director positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Newscast Director as needed
  • Operating the Audio board for productions
  • Operating Cameras board for productions
  • Learning all control room systems including the production switcher, routers, and video and graphic playback systems

Requirements

  • Experience operating cameras in a live environment
  • Prior experience operating an audio board and related systems
  • Understanding of newsroom systems ENPS and video playback systems
  • Technical know-how to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news
  • Can work flexible hours and shifts, including holidays and weekends
  • Related military experience will be considered
