  • Document clinical encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Handle patient communications, including phone calls, messages, and follow‑up reminders.
  • Assist with insurance verification, billing documentation, and completion of required forms.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and mental‑health‑specific privacy standards.

Patient Care & Support

  • Provide trauma‑informed, empathetic interactions with patients experiencing emotional distress.
  • Offer education on medications, treatment plans, and clinic processes under provider guidance.
  • Monitor patient safety in waiting and clinical areas, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Support coordination of care with external providers, hospitals, and community resources.

Qualifications:

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Must be AAMA or AMT Certified.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or primary care preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and organized in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and basic office software.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
  • Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Some flexibility may be required based on clinic needs or events.

In-Service Training & Continued Education Requirements:

  • Participate in all required agency in-service and ADMH trainings
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health.
  • Completion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor.
